Ahsoka and Valerie had spent the next couple years training with one another and growing their friendship together. The two of them quickly became the top younglings in their class and the two of them were in the courtyard practicing their lightsaber skills together.
Valerie stood up from her stance, "Ahsoka, I have a question?"
"What is it?" Ahsoka stood straight up as well.
"Why do you hold your lightsaber backwards?"
"Backwards? What do you mean?" She asked.
"Well you don't hold it like most jedi do."
"Oh I actually don't know, it just feels right holding my lightsaber like this."
"It... feels right?" Valerie raised an eyebrow.
"Yea, just try it and see." Ahsoka held her lightsaber up again, "we'll start slow."
"O-kay." Valerie copied her and started to swing her lightsaber like Ahsoka does. It felt weird in her hand like this, "this feels weird."
"Come on, give it a chance." She said confidently.
After a couple of swings Valerie and Ahsoka picked up their pace, Valerie laughed. "I'm starting to get the hang of this!"
"See! It gets easier the more you practice." Valerie went in for a combo move of Ahsoka's technique and back to how Valerie normally holds her lightsaber, which she tends to hold lower and Valerie was able to knock Ahsoka's lightsaber out of her hands. "Caraya's soul! That was impressive!" Ahsoka used the force and called her lightsaber back to her, the two girls got so into their spar that they didn't see someone walk into the Jedi Courtyard.
"Thanks! I'll keep practicing."
"Youngling Ortis. Youngling Tano. To me you will come." The girls turned and saw Master Yoda walking towards them. They ran up to him.
"Master Yoda." They both said with a bow at the same time.
"Strong younglings, the two of you have become." He said he always spoke in riddles which sometimes confused Valerie.
"Thank you Master Yoda, Valerie and I have been practicing our teachings when we can." Ahsoka spoke for the two of them. Valerie nodded.
"Yes, noticed, the masters and I have." Master Yoda stated. "The conclusion, the Jedi Council and I decided that padawans, you two ready, you are."
Valerie and Ahsoka looked at each other. "Padawans?!" Ahsoka said excitedly. "Really." Master Yoda nodded.
"But wait wouldn't that make us the two youngest padawans?" Valerie asked and turned her attention back to the tiny Jedi Master.
"Indeed, but ready, the two of you are." Yoda again nodded.
"Come on Valerie, aren't you excited!" Ahsoka claimed.
"Believe me I am, I just wanted to make sure we are ready." Valerie said.
"Follow me, the two of you will. Masters, assigned already have been." Master Yoda started to walk away. The younglings followed him, as Valerie walked the halls with Master Yoda and Ahsoka the more excited she became. She had dreams of becoming a padawan.
He led them to two different gunships. When Valerie saw the LAAT's she just now realized that she and Ahsoka will have to say their goodbyes for now. The thought made her sad. Master Windu was waiting for them.
"Master." He bowed. "Padawans."
Padawans
The thought made Valerie smile a little. "I assume Master Yoda has told you the good news and that you two have been assigned masters already?" Master Windu asked.
