She awakens the next morning, completely bewildered with everything she smells, touches and hears. She felt the warmth and comfy blanket she is cozying to. She smelt pleasant as if the entire atmosphere is perfumed. Everything seemed to be outshining, until she opens her eyes.
"Who's turned on the radio early morning?" She muttered, rubbing her eyes; trying to wake herself from the physical weakness. Her first sight was quite unexpecting, upon seeing Justin sitting nearby, she immediately jumps up to demand what is going on.
"Oh, good morning beauty. How ya feeling now?" Justin asked with a dazzling smile.
"Feeling now?" She mumbled as if she does not know anything, "where am I? What are you doing here?" She cried.
"So you don't remember anything at all huh?" He asked, reminding of the night's event.
"You had schnapps yesterday due to misuse. You mistreated me..."
Melissa was astonished, she was so focused that she reminded everything.
"You dirty old man?" He said cheekily.
And the details flew back to her mind.
"Okay, okay... Stop it!" She said as she covered herself with the pillow, embarrassed. "Please, don't say it to anyone..." Justin agreed hardly.
"Where am I now?" She asked looking around.
"At my mom's place..." Justin answered, getting up about to leave to give her some private space.
"Mo- mom's place?" Melissa stumbled, "did she saw me like this drunken?" She was scared to stiff.
Justin gave a funny giggle, "not yet, but she knows you are here. I couldn't take you to my place because there's no one there except myself. And I know exactly what will your reaction be like," he told as he gestured in a shrieking way to bring amuse.
Before leaving, he left another piece of advice, "don't ever think of drinking like that..." He paused, and added, "Without my presence!"
Melissa did not realized firstly, but after she did all she said was: "idiot!" After freshening herself, she went downstairs. She looked around with a single turn and the vision she caught first was a table with a huge pile of books and files.
"Why is it so messy?" She thought herself.
She put herself in to work by clearing everything in to a nice piece of work. Everything was arranged neatly, and orderly.
Ms. Mallette who was about to head to the kitchen saw Melissa completing the task. "Good morning child," she gave a warm welcome, "you did this all by yourself?" She asked quite surprised, because not even her own son has engaged in helping her with those things.
"Oh, yes ma'am. I'm sorry to arouse your personal works, but I couldn't just ignore it because books mean so much to me," said Melissa, humbly.
"That is so kind of you... I was completely shattered because of my new schedule_ doing the final pages of the book and I was totally distracted from these works, but you... Thank you-" And she asked her name once again.
"Melissa, Melissa Kaatz," answered Melissa.
"Thank you Melissa! Come let's have breakfast!" It was very kind of Justin's mother and her hospitality almost delighted Melissa and felt it motherly. Justin too joined the breakfast, meanwhile Ms. Mallette asked some questions relating to the tragedy Melissa faced. Justin too engaged in the conversation, helping with her responses.
"I did called them, but no answer ma'am. The house was closed, so we informed the neighbour. I hope I'll get an answer soon... Because, I've troubled enough and I don't want to-"
"No way dear, don't think of it too much. As long as you're staying with me, it's not going to be any trouble. Here only I and Mrs. Martha is living, so with you we can have good times..." Said Ms. Mallette, happily.
Mrs. Martha is her maid, and only both of them live in the house since Justin has moved to his own place he rare visit them. She understood Melissa's current situation, and she always liked to give a helping hand; especially for a girl. After breakfast, Melissa went back to her room to look in to her phone. The door was knocked.
"It's me..." said Justin.
"Wait..." she replied, as she walked to open the door.
"I'm gonna leave, so you can stay here safe okay. There's nothing to worry about!" Justin said.
Melissa nodded with an okay, though she felt she missed to say him something.
She thought, biting her lower lip and she ran to the stairs and urged Justin to "wait". He turned at once. "Thank you..." Melissa said.
And she added a confession as well.
"I- I'm sorry for what happened yesterday and how irrelevant I was..."
Justin smiled from his heart, but pretended as he did not heard anything.
"Oof... I'm sorry!" She repeated again. Though again he pretended. Melissa remembered what he used to said before: "you don't know how to apologize well!" And then she produced a beautiful calmly smile and said, "Sorry!"
Justin was touched this time and did not pretended.
"That's better!" He said, and went out.
Justin's departure brought a lot of dullness to the place because when he was around it is always "fun". After few hours, Melissa joined Ms. Mallette who was busy with her writings.
"Is there anything I could do for you ma'am?" She asked helpfully.
She sighed and answered, "I'm stuck with its last part darling," she lent her the copy of the chapter.
Melissa examined very carefully for about 5 minutes. An idea bolted in to her mind rapidly. "Ms. Mallette, why don't you just-?" And she puts forward the idea. Ms. Mallette's face brightened as newly wedded-bride with cheer and surprise.
"Oh my God, you're a GENIUS!" Splendid idea Melissa! Thank you so much..." And she freed her arms to give a tight hug to Melissa.
Furthermore, Ms. Mallette wanted to plan a celebration ahead. Albeit, the book is not yet published she believed Melissa's polite ending to the book will bring lavish and success. Thus, she wanted Mrs. Martha- the maid to go to the mall for shopping.
Melissa was eager to go with her, saying: "Ma'am, if you insist may I too go with her because I'd love to see how it's like around and I also want to buy a US SIM card."
She thought for a moment with the expression of saying no, but said with delight, "of course you may..." And she ordered Martha to take good care of her.
