That night after killing Medusa was pretty miserable.

After a while of debating we decided to camp outside. About a mile or two away from the main road we came across a marshy clearing littered with beer cans and wrappers.

The only thing that kept us warm was the blankets we found in Aunty Em's.

Sure our clothes were damp but lighting a fire didn't really cross our minds. It might seem a little strange but after fighting the furies and Medusa in the same day would you want to risk attracting something else?

That's what I thought.

Not wanting to risk being attacked, we slept in shifts. Percy was the first to volunteer for first watch.

"You sure that's a good idea?" Grover asked.

"Let him," I said as with a yawn. "We're all going to have to take turns anyway there's no point in arguing about who goes when."

Grover seemed a little unsure but nodded.

Annabeth didn't seem to have much to protest. It took her about five seconds after getting comfortable to be fast asleep with a small snore.

Not like I could much blame her.

The first day of the quest had been infinitely more draining than I expected.

"I wonder how much crazy stuff we'll run into," I said stretching. Truthfully I was still a bit weary, by body still felt like it was on edge and my senses were working overtime to pick up on any threats.

"Hopefully everything will be smooth from here on out," Grover said meekly.

"Hardly anything goes smooth when half bloods are involved."

"You guys should get some sleep," Percy said as he looked around. "There's no point in shifts if we're all up at the same time."

"You're right, Perce." I said as laid on the ground and tried my best to get comfortable. "If anything happens wake me up quick."

And for the first time since we left camp I tried to get some rest.

"Oh not this again." I muttered as I checked my surroundings.

Once more I was in a forest, the same forest my mother pulled me into the night I met her.

"Don't tell me you have qualms about seeing your mother?" A voice said drawing my attention.

Mu gaze lazily turned to a red haired woman who leaned against a tree. Her silvery eyes bore into like a parent trying to see if their it was lying.

Well if it wasn't the last person I wanted to see, mother dearest.

"Not exactly thrilled to see you." I said dryly.

I was probably one of the few people in the world who wasn't excited whenever they saw Theo mom.

"Tone." She said with eyes spelling danger.

"Sorry," I said with a voice laced with sarcasm.

She looked at me for a long moment before simply letting out a sigh. A wolf with a white fur strolled up to her, almost asking for attention.

With half of a mind she pet it like it was your everyday pet.

I took that moment to look around the forest.

A cut of land untouched by the hand of man.

No pollution, no trash, the trees grew without worry of being cut down, stars beamed true, it was all so peaceful.
