News of the bathroom explosion spread immediately. Then again maybe everyone was still stuck on the whole Minotaur thing.
As we walked through the camp kids stopped to point and stare at Percy. They talked about him like he was some kind of anomaly, honestly he was.
As we walked he told me a bit about himself allowing me to get to know him. He was a twelve year old kid from New York who was previously living with his mom and stepdad. I noticed a bit of sadness at the mention of his mom. He must've lost her, I wasn't a stranger to losing a parent.
To be honest what I found weird about Percy was how strong he was without really knowing who he is. What made it even weirder was how he didn't seem to really know about it. It was like he didn't care about the power that rolled off him in waves. I tried to think of who his dad could be. To be honest it was a bit hard. Sure he had similar features to a few guys up in Olympus but I couldn't be sure. The sea green eyes made me think Poseidon but the pact of the big three made that taboo.
Then again, Thalia existed....
The best guess I could come up with was Hecate but that was a woman.
Eventually I gave up. I just decided to get to know Percy as I took part in the tour. The training area. The forges(where you could find at least one child of Hephaestus). We showed him the rest of the camp he hadn't seen yet. Finally we ended up back at the lake where kids would Canoe. It wasn't that far off from the cabins.
Annabeth turned to Percy. "I've got some training to do." Her words sounded rather flat.
"Dinner's at seven-thirty, follow your cabin to the mess hall and follow Danny's lead." She said giving him a set of instructions. While she did so I looked down into the lake where Naiads blushed up at me and Percy.
Percy nodded wordlessly as he looked over my shoulder. I laughed feeling him jump back a bit in surprise. He probably thought they were drowning for a second.
"Don't encourage them," Annabeth reprimanded like she was talking to kids. "The naiads are terrible flirts."
"I could tell you that from experience." I said with a light blush. All the water spirits that strung me along played on my mind. They really knew how to make a guy feel good.
Percy muttered "naiads?" With a tone that said "so this is my life now?"
By now the poor guy was feeling the weight of everything that happened crashing down on him. It was something every new camper felt, something I felt when I had enough time between dodging monsters to think.
It was a terrible feeling. Before then all I knew was my small little world in my dad's apartment, then everything suddenly became so big and crazy.
"I hope you get it by now." I told him carefully. "This camp is the only safe place for freaks like us." I let out a bitter chuckle at the last part.
Annabeth spoke words that confirmed my own. "He's right, people like us don't have much other places to go. We don't have normal lives waiting outside of these borders."
"Mentally disturbed kids?" Percy asked dryly.
"Nah." I said shaking my head. "Half-bloods. Half human, half not."
Percy looked at me with confusion. "What's the other half?"
"You realize by now Percy." Annabeth said plainly. The black haired boy made eye contact. She held it. "Deity, half god."
"Yup," I said popping the p.
"Your father isn't dead Percy, he's an Olympian."
"That's..... that's insane."
