They went to the living room. Mom sat on the couch while Nicholas was working on the fire in the fireplace.
Nicholas: Are you warm enough?
Lexi's Mom: Oh yes! Thanks.
He sat next to her on the couch.
Lexi's Mom: Would it be okay to ask you something personal?
Nicholas: Of course! Ask away.
Lexi's Mom: You said you missed having a woman in the kitchen and Jackson said that his mom was around. I'm just curious does that woman still exists in your lives?
He looked sad and sighed.
Nicholas: Uh well she still exists in our hearts, but she died after Jackson was born.
She felt sorry for him and regretted to ask Nicholas that.
Lexi's Mom: I'm so sorry. I shouldn't ask you that.
Nicholas: No, it's okay! You didn't know. I never stop thinking about her. She was the best thing ever happened to me. And now having Jackson, it gave me the best present to cherish forever!
Mom smiled at him. Nicholas looked at her.
Nicholas: You do have a beautiful smile.
Lexi's Mom: I haven't smiled in a long time.
He leans in and kisses her and surprising Mom slowly kissed Nicholas back. It was weird for her at first, but it felt good for Mom.
Nicholas: You should smile more often.
Mom blushed hard when he said that. Nicholas was right about one thing. Mom should smile more. Not just of that special moment they had. It should be everyday to see Mom's smile. She deserves to be happy and have second chance with love.
