-1 day left until the next greenie-

"So, usually, you would have to work around to get everything done," Alby explained to (M/n) as he sat on the couch in the Homestead living room, as the dark-skinned male sat on the coffee table in front of him, "But since the hammock we hung up for you is empty, the new greenie will get it, you'll just have to show him around and teach him the important, vital stuff about the Glade."

(M/n) nodded, feeling kind of excited at the idea of receiving a new greenie in the Glade, and that made him realize that he hadn't had a single interaction with the newbie, who was the greenie before he came up, he only knew his name, Zachary, and that he was a Slopper.

"You'll basically be his babysitter for a few days or until he makes new friends, that's all," a second voice said, coming from down the hallway, Newt had walked out of his room and had overheard the conversation, and decided he should be honest with (M/n) instead of feeding him sweet lies, "It could be good or bad, but this has been a sort of tradition around the Glade for a while now, and we think you'll do a good job at that, greenie."

There was something about the way Newt talked and looked at him that made (M/n) shift in his spot, suddenly feeling a little anxious under his dark stare.

But the sound of the front door opening caught their attention, "Oh, greenie," Gally stood there, briefly making eye contact and greeting the Leaders of the Glade with a nod, "We have work to do, do you mind if I...?"

Alby hummed and signaled (M/n) to leave, "You can go, we're done."

"Alright, (M/n), come on," Gally beckoned him and he stood up from his spot on the couch, walking toward the blond while frowning at the feeling of a heavy stare on the back of his neck as they walked out of the Homestead.

He silently followed Gally, asking himself if there was something happened to Newt, maybe he was just having a bad day and it wasn't anything personal against him, but there was something going on and it put him on edge.

"Hey," the weight of Gally's arm around his shoulders snapped him back to reality, looking up at him, "Everything alright? You've been quiet," (M/n) looked around briefly, realizing they were standing in front of the Blood House, Builders and Brick-nicks bringing materials over, awaiting orders from their Keepers.

"I uh..." He stared into Gally's green eyes, feeling the uneasiness subtling down, "It's nothing, big guy, let's get to work," with a bright smile, (M/n) walked toward the rest of the guys, helping them carry anything they needed help with.

Gally chuckled and clapped a few times to get everyone's attention, "Alright, guys, we have a long day of work, let's start!"

//////

The afternoon and evening were spent building a new chicken pen since the one already in the barn was getting a little too small, Builders were focused on building while Brick-nicks were working on replacing any piece of wood that had to be changed. They fixed everything they could, and only had minor details to fix by the time the sun went down behind the Walls.

Everyone was pretty tired, and all they wanted was to sleep the day away, enjoy a peaceful night of sleep, and refill their energy.

"G'night, greenie," a weak smile grew on (M/n)'s face, his (e/c) eyes feeling heavy and his sight a little teary due to the yawn he let out a few seconds ago. He looked at Gally before he stepped out of the Homestead, the blond about to part ways to head to his room upstairs.

"Sleep well, Gally," they smiled at each other, and nodded in response, resuming their ways to each of their beds.

Walking through the trees in the Deadheads wasn't as scary as he once thought, taking quick yet careful steps toward his treehouse, bending down to pat Bark and give him a few 'good night' kisses, receiving a couple in return. (M/n) made his way up the ladder and untied it, pulling it up and propping it against the wall by the door, walking inside and closing the door behind him.
