Well, after leaving the only home that I had ever known, I decided to make my way to Hyrule Castle like the Great Deku Tree hadInstructed me to do. But little did I know that meeting the Princess of Destiny would change my life in ways that I would have never imagined.
As I left Lon Lon Ranch, I started humming Saria's song as I skipped along the dirt path. I wonder what the princess is like? Now I'm nervous, I hope she's nice. I thought to myself with a nervous feeling in my stomach. Navi laughed at my actions as I began humming Epona's song as I saw Hyrule castle up ahead. I sighed when I realized I would need to sneak into the castle... I hated being sneaky, but there was nothing I could do about it. However... the second I approached the gates that lead into town, one of the guards stopped me. "Hey, you, kid! Don't you know that it's dangerous for children to be out at night! I'll have to let your parents know if you don't go home."
I looked up at him with confusion shining in my eyes. "What's a parent? Do they eat you if you do something they don't like?"
The guard scowled and crossed his arms over his chest. The way he glared at me reminded me a lot of Mido. "Look kid, I'm not joking with you! Now go home!"
I flinched and turned around, I was just about to walk away when I turned back to the guard with an icy glair on my face. "I can't go home! Oh, and by the way, the forest spirits are angry... they don't trust adults! My friends and I don't know anything about the outside world, do you know why? It's because the Kokiri never leave the forest! And if they do, they'll die!" I turned away with a scowl on my face. Navi landed to rest on my shoulder as I walked away from the offending guard.
As I continued making my way though the secret entrance that would lead me to the castle, my fairy spoke up to break the silence. "Um... Link? When did you start talking with the forest spirits?"
I raised an eyebrow as I answered. "I've always been able to, I never told you? I'm sorry I guess I forgot to tell you!" I replied whIle putting my hands behind my back shyly. A sudden crow made me jump as the gates opened I ran to where the castle was. I was glad to get away from that guard, because I was still fuming with anger. As I ran I told Navi.
"It's not my fault that I'm a Kokiri! We never leave the forest! Hmph! He acted like I was stupid! Are all adults that rude?" I grumbled under my breath as I continued onwards.
Navi sighed and spoke calmly. "Link, please calm down, you need to calm down! You don't want the princess to think that you are mad at her, do you?" Navi said as she landed on my shoulder. I sighed, my fairy was right... I took a deep breath and calmed my angry thoughts down a little bit.
Guards paced their rounds. I used the hedges and fountains to sneak past. I was nearly spotted, but reached the round courtyard where a child looked through a window.
I walked forward and she turned in surprise. Her wide, naive blue eyes held fear and her blond hair fell across her face. "Who are you?How did you get past the guards?" a sudden voice spoke up, causing me to jump hide behind a nearby tree.
The girl smiled warmly at me and spoke up once more. "There's no need to be scared, I'm not going to bite!" she remarked with a small laugh and a friendly smile. I nervously poked my head out from behind the tree. "It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Princess Zelda, but you can just call me Zelda," I nodded my head and looked down at the ground shyly. Then after a moment of silence the sound of a dagger being drawn caused me to let out a high-pitched scream and I climbed up the tree I had previously been hiding behind. Zelda jumped in surprise at the high-pitched noise I had made.
"Uh, Impa? Was that really necessary?" Zelda questioned her guardian. "I'm not in any danger, and I think you've managed to traumatize that young Kokiri girl," Zelda said while looking up at me. I clung to the tree branch as tightly as I could with my small hands. Now I really wanted to go home! I shook in fear, though Impa only sheathed her dagger. "Impa is my guardian, she was only doing her job. Oh, and I forgot to ask you, what's your name?"
