what happened to Tails

Shadow pov :

~The next day~

The morning sun is shining brightly, illuminating the grassland where Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy are camping. Everyone is gathering their equipment in preparation for the day's mission.

Despite their haste, the group still makes time to talk and joke around with each other.

I'm off by myself as usual. Suddenly, a familiar voice pipes up from behind. "HEY SHADOW!" I hears Sonic call out. I grunts in annoyance.

I grumbles under my breath and turns to face Sonic, who is standing a few feet away. I crosses my arms over my chest and says in a low, monotone voice, "What?"

Sonic is quick to reply, "I just wanted to remind you that we're all going to explore at the nearby forest. Don't let us down."

I rolls my eyes and says, "Alright, I'll try my best to keep up." I starts to walk away, but Sonic stops me by calling out, "Hey Shadow, what were you doing last night!?"

"What is it now, Sonic?" I asks

"Well you see, I found you sitting out in the grass at night yesterday," Sonic replies with a smile.

I rolls my eyes and says, "So what?"

"Well, I just wondered what you were thinking about when you were sitting all alone like that," Sonic chuckles.

I was clearly agitated by Sonic's nosy questions, "I don't recall your name being on the list of people I care to inform about my personal life."

Sonic laughs at my reply before saying, "Aw, come on, don't be a loner! It's not like I was going to tell anyone else anyway."

I shrugs and says, "I prefer to be alone."

Sonic is about to protest, but I interrupts him by walking away. "If you don't mind, I'm going to have some time to myself before the mission."

As I starts to walk away again, he hears Sonic call out to him, "Fine, suit yourself!"

Amy pov :

I listens to their conversation, I smiles warmly at how close Sonic and Shadow are.

"Well, it looks like Sonic and Shadow are getting along."

I go back to listening to Sonic talk about their mission plans.

"Are you sure they are getting along?" Tails ask while looking at me

I turns to Tails and nods. "I think so. I know Shadow can be pretty serious and standoffish sometimes, but he and Sonic both care about each other very much. And I think it's sweet how Sonic tries to look out for Shadow, even though Shadow doesn't always let him."

I smiles softly at Tails. "I think deep down, Shadow appreciates Sonic's friendship even if he doesn't always show it. That's just how he is."

Tails stares at me with a look of surprise on his face.

"That's... a very mature way of looking at it, Amy. I know Shadow is a very mysterious character and can be difficult to understand at times. But you make a good point. If Shadow didn't appreciate Sonic's friendship on some level, he wouldn't stay so close to him."

Tails pauses for a moment to think.

"Maybe Shadow just needs a little time to open up to us and trust us more."

I nods in agreement with Tails. "You're right, Tails. I think that's exactly what's happening with Shadow. It just takes him a little while to trust people and open up to them, but once he does, I'm sure he'll prove to be a loyal and valued friend to us all."
