“What?” Mi-Seul’s eyes go wide, and it looks as if she has actually frozen on the spot.“Yeah, it’s good to meet you, Sarang. Never thought we would meet this way though,” I keep my hands inside the pockets of my jeans, my shoulders lifting in a small shrug.
I’m still wishing and praying that she shouldn’t be Sarang, but I know that I’m just moments away from directly hearing the truth spill out of her mouth, and it is already causing a heavy rush of blood within my veins.
“I don’t get it. Who’s Sarang?” She questions me casually, but I get it that she’s a little nervous going by how she’s repeatedly tapping one foot on the floor, and her eyes are roaming too.
“Are you going to keep me standing here?” My question breaks her nervousness, and she steps aside, allowing me to enter her home, and then she latches the door behind my back.
I’m mentally scrambling around for the right words to extract the truth from her, and by the time I finish phrasing the sentences within my head, Mi-Seul’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
“How do you know Sarang?” Her question makes me twist around to stand facing her.
“To answer that question, I need to first know if you’re Sarang, which I’m sure you are, but I just want to hear it from you,” I cross my arms under my chest, and she does the same, and to any outsider it would appear as if we are ready to grab each other’s hair and roll on the floor, fighting like dogs and cats.
“What if I’m not?” She puts forward another question but with more certainty this time.
But I don’t buy her confidence because it could very well be a distraction, and that’s the last thing I want right now. Letting out an amused chuckle, I stroke a finger on my chin, burying my other hand inside the front pocket of my jeans. “I know for a fact that it’s you because Sarang’s address points to your home, and you’re living alone here,” I state the facts that led me to the conclusion, but she reacts by chuckling in a belittling fashion.
“That’s a silly guess,” Mi-Seul shakes her head a little and pushes her hair above her forehead using one hand before she continues speaking. “Taehyung, all I can tell you is that I’m not Sarang, but you need to tell me how you know her. Sarang is a name that only Jake knows. So does that mean you’re Jake?” She raises her eyebrows at me, curiously.
This was a question that I didn’t expect, but it somehow makes me cackle. “Do I look like Jake?” I laugh, and it merely makes Mi-Seul roll her eyes at my stupid question.
