I wake up startled. I see Kaoru, still asleep, and curled up. I stand up. What was that? It felt so real. My breath quickens. I feel my scar. Where was that stump? I feel around me. No fire. No blood. No dragging a body. I look around. It was just a stupid dream. Right?
Kaoru wakes up slowly. I look at her.
"Good morning." I say.
"Morning." She yawns and gets up.
Megumi comes in.
"Good morning, you two." She says.
I nod. I stand up. I need to clear my head.
"I'm going to make breakfast." I say going to the kitchen.
"Kenshin, what's wrong? You seem sweaty." Kaoru says.
"I'm fine." I quickly say.
I'm fairly sure I'm lying. That dream was terrifying because it was so real. I get out some rice and put it into a pot along with some spices. Megumi and Kaoru come in. They both look at me. I roll my eyes and let out a sigh.
"I just had a bad dream." I finally say.
"Oh." Kaoru says.
"Don't worry about it." I say.
It's fine. It was just a stupid dream. Enishi comes in. He lets out a bearish yawn. I look up at him.
"Good morning." I say.
"What's for breakfast? I'm starving." He says.
