I reached the airport and decided to take a cab with the address in hand I pulled my luggage ready for this next adventure in my life. I know it's hard to leave Sheena, she has been nosy, and mostly giving me disgruntled look, he doesn't want to let me go. I keep on insisting it's a family emergency, and made sure I leave alone, obviously I cannot drag her into this.I need to see Dana in person, she's clouding my mind for the past, I don't know, three weeks now? Luckily her mom was generous enough to side with me and with all the pleading and unending speeches that I badly miss my best friend, she gave me the address, telling she will deal with what Dana has to say later on.
God, I truly miss her. Those never ending sexcapades with my girlfriend doesn't change the fact that I miss Dana. She is still my true love. It's my first time here in London, was lucky to have money saved in case of emergencies like this. Since Dad has cancelled most of my credit cards for messing every single car he buys for me. I know I really couldn't wait until she heads home. After what seems like fifteen minutes from the airport I reached my destination. Being known as his best friend by Aunt Stella, for sure they will let me stay over, if not I've got a plan B. Well it's basically two weeks left until Dana comes home. Easier to spend time with her here since she left alone she must be lonely, other than the real reason Sheena cannot spy on me this far.
I paid the cab and pulled out my luggage from the trunk. It was a foggy afternoon yet serene atmosphere here in Notting Hill. I rang the door bell, clearing my throat the door opened. A guy in his forty's maybe, with thick eyeglasses stood in front of me.
"Hi! Good afternoon. I'm looking for Madame Stella?" I peaked thru his shoulders hoping to see Dana.
"She's upstairs, who's asking?" He is eyeing me from head to toe, obviously gave me a quizzical look upon witnessing my luggage at hand.
"I'm Jasper, Dana's best friend, Aunt Stella knew me, are you her husband?" I didn't meant to be nosy just wanted to be sure.
"Yes. I'm Dana's uncle Deny." not letting me in he called for Aunt Stella while he holds the door in place. Praying that Dana is still here, I'm very eager to speak with Aunt Stella. As soon as she went down to approach the door. She was tremendously surprised to see me.
"Oh my my, Jasper?!" She came closer and hugged me. "What brings you in here?" Uncle Deny stepped aside as Aunt Stella pulled me in. Looking at my suitcase she cannot resist but ask.
"Did you just came from the airport, where are you staying?" I grinned at her hoping she gets what I meant.
"Look how you've grown to be a real handsome lad. Last time I saw you, was 7 years ago I believe when I visited at Dana's."She tapped my shoulder and Uncle Deny cleared his throat.
"Oh yes, by the way, meet my husband Deny, we have one daughter she's currently sleeping right now due to the pain killers must have knocked her out, yeah, she had dental appointment today had to pull two molars..ugh! You'll meet her later on."I shooked hands with Uncle Deny as Aunt stella Dragged my luggage to a guest room.
"Jasper would you give us a minute?" They went to the kitchen to discuss something, I'm guessing if he will allow me to stay and where. After a thorough discussion, uncle Deny excused himself heading to the living room."Leave your luggage here for now." She placed it inside the room and closed the door and grabbed my hand towards the kitchen.
"Tell me what brings you here?" I told her everything in a span of thirty minutes, after learning that Dana is out on a date, which surprised me knowing that she's only been here two weeks.
"Well, my niece is beautiful, and there's plenty of fish in the sea, when you're single...I think you won't end up single." And we both laughed. "You can probably stay in the guest room with Dana if she doesn't mind or she can stay with Cara in her room."
Feeling ashamed dragging myself into this I offered to stay in a hotel just not to bother them in which she disagreed saying she will talk to Dana.
Uncle Deny Came back to the kitchen all dressed. "Nice meeting you, mate. I'm heading for a one week business trip to Venice."
"You sure you don't want me to drive you to the airport?" They kissed and he left.
We talked again for what seemed like two more hours until I met Cara which is still in pain and decided to went back to her room.
"She is adorable. Looks like you." She blushed. A sudden sound of car engine came to a halt in the front door.
"Oh that must be Dana. I'll go get it." Standing up from the bar stool I peaked thru the kitchen window and saw her date. They were holding hands and the guy is obviously staring at her. Then they kissed. Something I do not want to witness. She looks happy. Surprised even, that Aunt Stella opened the door. She cannot contain her excitement as she told her she has a surprise visitor. Dragging her date inside which I did not expect would happen she saw me at the hallway near the kitchen.
"What on earth are you doing here?" She didn't sound happy to see me. Her date put an arm around her shoulder claiming her. Making it obvious to me. Arse. I thought.
"I'm here to spend your vacation with you." I guess Aunt Stella didn't see this one coming as she excused herself towards the kitchen inviting the guy for a cup of tea. He unwillingly followed, but before he can proceed she introduced him to me as her boyfriend.
Aunt Stella was appalled by the introduction which means it's news to her as well, gave me a glare gauging my reaction.
"Well, congratulations mate." I shook his hands while thinking of wringing it with all my might.
He went with Aunt Stella in the kitchen leaving me and Dana speechless. Could this situation be any more awkward. We sat at each end of the stairs. Inhaling and exhaling but not talking.
"You could've just waited for me you know? I'm leaving in two weeks." She blurted hands holding her head like I am a major headache. I am losing my best friend. It pains me to see her with another guy. What ever happened to best friends till death?
"I missed you." I looked at her straight in the eye. I wanted so much to kiss her right there and then.
"How about Sheena, she must gave you a hard time and yet you escaped."
I am not liking where this conversation is heading. I cannot help myself but balled my hands into a fist. She noticed it and placed her hands on top.
"Jasper, I have a boyfriend and you have a girlfriend, let's just be happy with each other, I know I am." She is really good at reading my mind. What? That british lad got her heart? He is just two inches taller than me. I know what boyfriend and girlfriend do with each other and it's pure torture to even think about it.
"I don't love her Dana." There. I said it.
"That is really unfair for her Jasper. Did you broke up with her?"
"I love you." She stood up upon hearing these words. "Don't say that." She whispered.
"Why? Because he might hear? Don't you feel the same way? Does he even know you're only here for a vacation?" I didn't mean to raise my voice but it's too late.
"What's going on here? Are you guys ex of each other? Am I missing something? Are you leaving me Dana?" He shot those hurtful words at her. Without waiting for an answer, he left. Dana followed her while turning to me..
"You shouldn't have come! You ruined everything!" I have never seen her that mad at me ever. She tried to go after him. I was left sobbing on the foot of the stairs, as Aunt Stella consoled me.
