In the first week of training, they weren't allowed to spar with anyone until saki understood their skill sets. izuku had his form adjusted in little ways that made him slightly faster, slightly harder to catch, and just a bit harder to stop from grabbing you.
Bakugou was taught the basics of fighting from the ground up despite his complaints. He was forced to work out, throw basic punches until Saki saw that he actually learned it, then he would spar with him while neither where allowed to use their quirks. Over time he reeled him in, bakugou's attacks Gradually got less wild and became more practiced, fierce, and shockingly more dangerous.
It only made him more terrifying to go up against...
In the second week, they were finnaly allowed to train and spar with others.
Izuku had managed to get so good at dodging and manipulating his opponents movements that he started fighting others without using his quirk, and he still somehow managed to beat most of the people he fought.
Over time, as he fought people without his quirk, he learned the importance of figuring out your opponents power as quickly as possible, even if that means making purposeful mistakes to see if they would use their quirks to take advantage of the sudden opening. He definitely lost fights that way but he's won more than enough to make the tactic worth it.
Some quirks were just too much to take on without using his quirk but he had always been close, always felt like if he could just get a hand on them he could win. But there was one person he always had trouble with.
Mashirao ojiro. He was slightly taller than him, he had blond hair and a tail with fur on the end of it that was the same color as his hair.
With anyone else, he could beat them just by getting his hands on them because no one here was ever taught how to grapple nor escape one.
So you had to learn that skill from somewhere else. And ojiro definitely learned it based on how he could toss him off even without even using his tail.
And so, he was izukus favorite sparring partner in this whole place!
B-besides bakugou of course!
Ojiro would even teach him new moves and ways to improve. "You need to grab their clothes from farther back. It allows you to stay close even when you're getting thrown around, and it makes it harder for them to pry at your fingers." Ojiro said calmly while clenching his fingers in front of himself.
Izuku just nodded excitedly and immediately committed that information to memory.
"Good, now try it." He said while crouching into a low stance.
Izuku grinned and copied him, and just like that they charged at each other.
Ojiro let his guard down purposefully and let izuku grab him, ojiro then pushed up on izukus joints to make him let go. Izuku flinched slightly and immediately released his grip to grab ojiro's right arm to go for a throw but before he knew it he was tossed over ojiro's shoulder and into the mat.
"Ouch..." izuku muttered.
"That would work on most people, but when the other person knows what they are doing then you will lose."
"Noted." Izuku gritted out while staring up at him.
Ojiro offered a hand and helped him to his feet. "Don't worry, I'll help you with it."
Izuku suddenly looks sheepish. "Thank you..."
"Of course." Ojiro smiled then tightened his grip on izukus hand, izuku looked confused for half a second before he was unceremoniously tossed over his tailed assailants shoulder again. He smirks down at him once he hits the mat. "Keep your guard up." He then offers his hand again. Izuku takes it, but instead of getting up he pulls Ojiro down to his knees.
