Kiara found herself standing in front of Kabir's apartment. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door, her heart pounding in her chest. Kabir opened the door, surprise evident in his eyes.
"Kiara? What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice filled with a mix of confusion and curiosity. He stepped aside, inviting Kiara into his apartment.
Kiara cautiously stepped into the apartment, her heart pounding with nervousness. She mustered up the courage to ask Kabir, "How have you been?"
Kabir scoffed, his face filled with bitterness. "Like you really care," he replied, his voice laced with sarcasm.
Kiara's eyes filled with sorrow "I really do, Kabir. In my heart, I care deeply about you." She wanted to shout it aloud, but fear held her back.
Curiosity got the better of Kabir, and he questioned her presence. "Why are you here?" he asked, his voice tinged with frustration.
Kiara took a deep breath and mustered her strength. "What happened with Maya?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.
Kabir's face hardened, and he replied sharply, "It's none of your business."
Kiara persisted, her voice trembling. "I know it's not, but can't you see she is so miserable? How could you do this to her? I know you hate me but don't punish her because of me. She deserves better than this"
Kabir, with his piercing gaze, stared back at me, his eyes filled with anger and resentment. "Is that so? And who are you to decide what she deserves? Last time I checked, you were the one who abandoned her when she needed you the most." he chucked, the sound dripping with sarcasm. "you think I am doing all this because of you. you are mistaken. My world doesn't revolve around you".
Kiara's heart sank at his words. She knew she had made mistakes in the past, but she had hoped that Kabir would understand her reasons. But instead, he seemed determined to hold onto his anger and blame her for everything that had gone wrong.
"Then why are you doing all this?" she asked "You know that's not true! I had my reasons, and Maya understood that. But you, you were the one who manipulated her, played with her feelings, and then left her broken-hearted"
Kabir's face hardened, his jaw clenched. "I don't owe you any explanation," he said coldly, taking a step closer to her. There was only a few inches of distance between them now, and she could feel the intensity of his anger radiating off him.
Desperation filled her, and Kiara pleaded with Kabir one last time. "Please, Kabir. Don't do this with Maya. Just meet her once. Talk to her. You owe her that much."
Kabir didn't respond. His silence was deafening, and I knew it was a sign that he had made up his mind. As I turned to leave, my heart heavy with a mix of emotions, I couldn't help but wonder if there was any way to save Maya from the pain that awaited her.
"I can consider your request," he finally replied, causing her face to light up with hope. The weight of her desperation seemed to lift momentarily, replaced by a glimmer of possibility. But then, Kabir paused, making her heart sink.
"On one condition," he added, his voice low and serious. The room suddenly felt suffocating, as if the air had been sucked out, leaving only tension and uncertainty.
"Finish what we started the other day." His words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken desires and unfinished business. Kiara furrowed her brows, confusion evident on her face.
"What do you mean?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly. Her mind raced, desperately trying to piece together the fragments of their shared history.
Kabir leaned in closer, whispering into her ear. "Spend the night here,"
he said, his words sending a shockwave through her body. Her eyes widened in disbelief, unable to digest what she was hearing. The room seemed to spin, blurring the boundaries between reality and fantasy. She had never expected this twist in their complicated relationship.
Then she remembered a few months ago, during a moment of vulnerability, they had shared a passionate kiss. It had been a fleeting moment, a stolen connection that had left her breathless and yearning for more. She had come to Kabir to mend things between him and her best friend, Maya, but now he was suggesting something completely unexpected.
Kiara's shock quickly transformed into anger, and without a second thought, she slapped Kabir across the face. Kabir, taken aback by her reaction, grabbed her shoulders firmly. "How dare you hit me?" he asked, his voice filled with anger. Kiara searched his eyes, desperately seeking an explanation for his lousy request.
