Cordelia's POV:High school is supposed to be a time of perpetual choices and chances, yet for me, it feels like the compete opposite.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely prefer this knew school to my old one, but it is still the same six hour day filled with teachers droning on and on about important life choices that need to be decided this very minute. Blah blah blah. What a load of bull.
Oh well, at least no one looks at me differently here.
"So that's why I accidentally skinny dipped at the bonfire the start of this school year." Nathaniel says, drawing me out of my thoughts.
Since I first walked into the school grounds before school began, Nathaniel sat with me beside my locker and his, making it a point to prove to me that his past skinny dipping that Gigi had mentioned at the bonfire on Saturday was a complete accident. I really didn't ask him to give me an in-depth explanation about his wild drunken night, but here we are.
He insisted on letting me know the whole nitty gritty details of his experience and why it actually occurred because we hadn't seen each other since Saturday, The school week had gone so quickly that it is already a Friday and Nate and I had only crossed paths once or twice in the halls, thankfully, that was the same with Matheo and I.
We've fallen into a steady rhythm of blatantly ignoring each other. In the mornings, we exchange maybe one or two 'fuck you's' or the exchange death threat, then after we arrive at school, we go our seperate ways until he drives us home, and we go our seperate ways again. After that we have a tension filled dinner with several glares and eye rolls, and finally we share one last 'Go to hell' before bed. Then the process repeats the next day.
"That's great Nate. I promise I believe it was accidental." I reassure him, returning my full attention to the grinning dirty blonde boy beside me.
Nate sighs loudly, "You're the only one." He says with a fake sad expression, "It's okay though, all the ladies loved the view." He jokes, and I roll my eyes, elbowing him gently.
The first bell rings throughout the school grounds, signalling that the first class of the day is soon to begin.
"Come on, we better get to our classes," I say to him, causing him to groan and stand up.
"Fine." He says with a sigh as we begin to walk into the school.
"Hey- wouldn't Matheo be mad at you for sitting with me?" I ask him. Like always, Matheo and I went out seperate ways without a word the minute he parked his car in the parking lot. Though I'm still confused as to why Nate is with me currently and not his best friend.
"Nah." Nathaniel says, shrugging his head. "More annoyed than mad, but he's welcome to come walk with us. He just has to much pride to give in and sit anywhere near you." He explains.
I nod, "Why did you sit with me anyways?" I ask, tilting my head.
Nate shrugs, "You looked lonely, and I was bored." He tells me with a small smile.
