Someone Else On My Mind

[7655 words] - Probably my longest Chap lol.

Naruto finishes the last of his breakfast still half sleep. As he gets dressed and finally walks out the door, he does a couple of stretches trying to wake himself up.

"Okay! Wake up! Here we go! IM READY!"

*I think of spongebob when he says that 🤣*

He runs off and makes his way to meet up with the rest of team 7 waiting for Kakashi on the bridge. Once he gets there he only sees Sakura and yells waving at her.

"Hey Sakura! What's up!!"

When he approaches closer he sees Sasuke and they both start blushing off of pure eye contact. Without even thinking they both scuff and look away from eachother as fast as they can out of reflex. Sakura just sighs at theirs childish behavior seeing as they've been doing this ever since getting back from the land of waves.

The problem is, Sasuke ended up avoiding Naruto on purpose ever since he asked to do something with him when they get back. Naruto knows this because he already lied a few times about being busy and not having time. He already caught him a few times completely free with more than enough time on his hands. When Naruto confronted him about it, Sasuke would just get angry and starts arguments about it. Ever since that happened in the first week of getting back from the land of waves, they both have been doing the silent treatment of not speaking to eachother.

Sakura feels like she can cut the tension with a knife and is begging for Kakashi to hurry up and break it. She feels like she's being stuck with two children only because she doesn't know the extent of their beef.

An hour passes by and Kakashi still hasn't shown up as they wait up against the railing for him.

"Hey guys, Good Morning! Sorry i'm late, I'm afraid I got lost on the path of life."

They all scream at his ridiculous recycled excuse not falling for it. After they let out their frustration Naruto puts his fists up in front of Kakashi giving him sparkly eyes.

"I'm ready for the next mission sensei! And No more of this dumb beginner stuff okay? I want a chance to prove myself! I'm talking a real mission! Where I could show what i'm made of! I GOTTA BREAK OUT AND BURN IT UP!!! SEE!!"

Naruto's eyes and the aura around him starts lighting up like wild fire making Kakashi sweat drop and back away slowly. Sakura just glares at him while Sasuke stares wide eyed. He has no Idea where all that energy came from but he kinda agrees with what he's saying.

"Uhhh Right right, I get it, That's great Naruto. Now take it easy would you?"

Naruto shoots his glare over to Sasuke and he looks back at him with a confused facial expression. He's hoping that he can finally be able to show him up and surpass him this time. He doesn't want Sasuke to keep getting all the credit on the missions they do. Naruto starts day dreaming of being able to rescue or protect Sasuke the way he did back at the land of waves. He doesn't hate him for what he did but he wants to become stronger to show him that he can do just the same.

On an Insecurity level though, he just hates how weak he was during that mission. So weak to the point where he almost lost him and he hates himself for that. So if he can get stronger by making it a competition then he'll do just that.

Besides, he wants to be able to beat Sasuke at his best and he knows he'll only be doing his best if he provokes him. Kakashi is just tapping his finger away with his arms crossed waiting for Naruto to stop daydreaming.

"Let us know when your done fantasizing Naruto so we can start the mission."

"Oh yeah right!"

"Could you not be so annoying Naruto? Just once!"
