That day I had ramen for dinner and went to sleep early as I was really tired. The next day, I and Emily woke up early and went to the company where Emily applied to.
It was an International brand of clothes. The company's name was MODA. Women all over the world die to buy their new collections. The office itself was so big. This is all that I know about this company. But what else do we need, to be impressed? I would love to work here but unfortunately, this meant I had to stay in Korea. I don't want to stay here as it can increase the probability of meeting me and Minho. It would be better if we never meet again. We went to the HR department and were told to wait in the waiting area for our turn. 6 more people were sitting in the room who were shortlisted from hundreds of applications. I looked at them, all of them looked more experienced and sophisticated than I.
I was sweating and trying to imagine the worst-case scenario. That's what I always did when I get nervous. All of us were waiting for our turn. I felt a bit more nervous by comparing myself with the people in the waiting room.It was my turn first. When my name was called I took a deep breath and went in. The interview went smoothly. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I was quite satisfied. I was asked to directly move to the lobby so I wasn't able to meet Emily. I messaged her that I will be waiting in the lobby or the area near the reception. She messaged me that her name has been called and she is about to in.
I was waiting for her in the lobby when someone passed by me. He was dressed in a suit and rushing for something. He looked young so I thought maybe he is late for the interview. I noticed he dropped a paper while he was rushing towards the lift. I picked it up and ran after him. I called him but what should I even call him so that he can notice me? He must be Korean. Will he understand English? Before even realizing I shouted "Excuse me! Your paper!"
He stopped and turned around. For some seconds, I thought Minho was standing in front of me. I blinked for a second and realized he wasn't Minho. I must be missing him so much that I kept on comparing every other boy with him.
"You dropped a paper. I don't know if you can understand me? But you dropped this. It may be important for your interview." I pointed at the paper.
As if he can understand what I was saying he stepped toward me. I handed him the paper. He smiled and said, "Thank you." in English.
Oh, he can speak English, I realized.
That's cool.He said, "So are you here for the interview?"... "Too?" He added after a pause. He had a Korean touch in his English accent. Just like Minho. Shut up! Stop comparing!
"Oh yes. I came here for the job of Interpreter. It went well. I would suggest you don't be nervous. The people who are taking the interview are really experienced but they are really kind."
Why am I giving him free advice? He didn't ask for one. Can't you just Shut up Sarah? He doesn't actually seem nervous. He looks handsome when he smiled. But why am I even talking to him in the first place? I thought.
He replied, "Oh really. So you are done with your interview?"
I replied, "Yes. I am waiting for my friend. By the way, your English is good I think you may get the job."
He quickly said, "But that meant, I'll be taking your chance to join the company."
"oh no. I think the one who has the appropriate skills will get the job. What's the use of getting jealous or being envious then?"
Plus I don't really want to stay here. I came because Emily forced me to otherwise I would have chosen death rather than coming here. Minho is somewhere out there and I don't want to face him again.
He smiled. His brown eyes reminded me of Minho. Oh, God! Why is this guy's smile look like that of Minho? I have gone totally mad!
He said, "That's true. I am running late for something. I mean interview. What was your name again?"
I blushed as I realized I forgot to introduce myself. I replied, "My name is Sarah."
He said, "It was nice meeting you, Sarah. I am Lee Nam Joon." We shook hands and he left as he said, "Looking forward to meeting you again Sarah."
Before I could understand what he meant he vanished into the crowd waiting for the lift.
