Saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do when someone you love is leaving you behind and you can't do anything to stop it.

Which is odd because usually when things like this happen I do take action and i'm usually able to stop it.

This was just totally out of my league.

I watched in pain with tears in my eyes as Riley puts her last piece of luggage In the back of her car. Turning to us she sends us a sad smile.

"Riles..." I call out to her as my voice cracks. She snaps her head towards me before running over and pulling me into a bone crushing hug.

The eyes of crazy hat, farkle, Lucas, Mr & Mrs. Matthews, Josh, Auggie, shawn and Eric give us a sympethice glance.

I bury my face into her shoulder and let a few tears slip and she squeezes me tighter and sobs.

"Riles, promise me. Promise me that you won't forget me while you're in Iowa for the rest of you teenage life..." I mumble into her shoulder.

She nods. "I p-promise, Maya. I'm gonna miss you so much!" She says in reply, whispering to me.

"Riley, I love you." I tell her. "You're the sister i've never had but always wanted."

I feel her smile into my shoulder. "I love you too Maya." She says to me, sounding a bit better as her sobs died down. "I am so sorry that you've had to put up with me your whole life... "

"No, Riley." I say, shaking my head. "I am happy that I had such an opportunity. You've helped me see that I'm not completely worthless. You've helped me own the fact that I'm broken."

She smiles at me, pulling away. "Maya, promsie me one thing." She says, pointing at me.

"Anything." I reply as she grins.

"No more egging Mr. Miles' home. He did nothing wrong but take away your skateboard that you didn't even know how to ride." She says laughing. I begin to laugh with her and tell her that I promised.

She turns to Lucas, walking closer to him.

"Lucas.... " She whispered. He gives her a sad grin and pulld her into a hug.

She flushed red and hugged back weakly, but cutely. When she pulled away he grabbed her hand and gave it a quick squeeze and peck.

"Well... This is goodbye..." Riley says grinning sadly at him with a faint blush from the touch of his lips.

He nods. "Yeah, I guess it is." He says grinning back at her. She gives him an awkward curtsy (I don't know why) and moves over to farkle.

"Hi farkle, look, I---"

"RILEY!" Farkle screams falling at her feet and hugging her legs. "Don't leave! I need you!!! You're the only one who likes to study while dancing to ke$ha with me!" He says dramatically causing her to give a little laugh.

"Farkle, you'll be okay buddy. I love you, you're like a brother---no, a pet i've always wanted but never received." She says admittedly while petting his head.

He slowly rises and smiles brightly at her. "Y-you love me?" He asks in an Awe whisper," I-I never thought you'd actually say it back! I gotta go tell my mom!" He says cheerily, running off.

I laugh at him along with everyone else before RILEY lastly moves over to Josh.

"Uncle Josh... see ya later alligator." She says grinning wildly at him. He leans in to kiss her forehead while chuckling.
