Chapter 3

I know I'll have a hard time, but I'm gonna need to confront him...

The bell rings, and everyone, not including myself and a few others, gathers into groups and files out for a break outside in one of the many courtyards this school has. I take that as a perfect opportunity to confront the one whose gaze I've apparently stolen.

He's still looking at me as I walk up to him, a smugness still heavily plastered all over his face.

"Young Togami." I start.

He gives me a look of amusement. "Young Togami? Is that how your family refers to me?"

"No. Just me. But that's beside the point. I need to know what you were doing staring at me for the past..." I take a look at an invisible watch on my wrist, "few hours now? Surely there is something on your mind for you to be watching my every move like the vulture you are."

"Vulture? Now now, Asahi-"

"Sora." I interrupt him, knowing he'll take it one of two ways. A.) I like him enough to let him use my first name or B.) I have something I'm hiding. As expected, he takes the latter.

"Oh? I think it's a bit too early for that... unless you don't want something coming out? What? Are you too ashamed of yourself? You'll never live up to your family name with that talent you possess."

"Can it. We're not talking about me. Why were you staring?"

"Oh, but this is so much more interesting. Of course, I had to stare at my rival's youngest daughter, noticing how she's hiding her lineage from the whole class."

"Yeah, so what? What about this is captivating your attention?"

He chuckles a bit. "I didn't think you were this naive." He walks towards me as I back away. Suddenly, I am in a corner as he's glaring above me. "The Asahi conglomerate is unfortunately very close to surpassing the Togami's. But think about it. What if The masses knew what on earth their youngest was doing when no one was looking? What would happen then?"

I suddenly realize the situation I'm in. I managed to get by without even my parents knowing of my secrets. If he were to spread this information, The business would be ruined. Normally, this would be a mild discrepancy, but the only thing that came to my mind was one person:

Yuki.

Yuki is the heir to the whole business. She's been working her whole life to make everyone around her proud. Her name would be at stake if Young Togami were to do this, all because of my mistakes. I couldn't let this happen. I swallow my pride, and after a moment of deliberating how to go about this, I finally speak up. "How can I ensure you don't go blabbering my business?"

Once again, he chuckles. "I have a proposition. One that I think you won't be able to refuse..."

After talking, we reach a compromise: In return for his vow of silence, I would secretly work under the Togami Corporation. Nothing would be shared about my own family, but others would not fare so well. I leave feeling completely duped out of my free will. What would Yuki think of my failure?

Despite the negativity I felt, I decide to act as if nothing happened. No one could know what was happening between us. I walk up to Sakura and Aoi, and we start chatting about classes, figuring out who had what, and where to meet up to get coffee before school.

"So, how did go with that secret admirer of yours?" Aoi brings up slyly, thinking the situation totally different than how it happened.

"What? Oh, yeah not too bad. He just thought he knew me from somewhere. Thought I was someone else or something!" I lie, looking around to see if he was nearby.

"Oh come on, that's not what happened at all! There has to be something going on!"

"I swear! Nothing happened between us. Sorry to burst your bubble, Aoi, but this isn't some fanfiction where we're going to instantly fall in love or something. I barely know the guy!"

We talk for longer than we expected, because the bell rings to bring us back from our break mid-conversation. Next is going to be a chemistry class, which... is my worst subject.

I just hope I don't explode the school or something...
