A couple of days have gone by so far and we've transitioned into next week already, it's Thursday now and me and Rodrick haven't hung out since last week on Tuesday. Why you may ask? Because our mothers have been completely taking us everywhere to help gather things for the storm that's supposed to come tomorrow on Friday.
I highly doubt it'll happen though because the clouds haven't changed and nothing has been gloomy or twilight movie franchise like. My moms been hassling me all the time about being prepared and to pack my bag for the Heffley's but I've been kind of avoiding it.
I admit im kind of nervous to see Rodrick. When we have any little interaction it's not more than 15 seconds and I kind of feel some sort of tension in the air. We text a lot though and I mean a lot. There's not a second that goes by and im not texting Rodrick.
He sends me cat memes and videos of him playing the drums all the time which I find adorable. I just send him pictures of me reading or folding my clothes—kinda boring of me to do but whatever.
I wanna see him again and just have another day where's it just me and him like at the park.
I hate to admit but I've grown really to be really fond of Rodrick so far. I mean I was when I first met him but not as much as I do now. Yes we've had such a big fall but we're friends now and that's what matters...I guess.Anyway it's Thursday as I said before and it's about 9:45 in the morning. I was sitting on the couch watching Gilmore girls when I heard a knock on the door. Thinking it was Rodrick I stood up so fast and practically sprinted to the door. I opened it only to be disappointed—
It was the delivery man.His tan khaki shorts and his blue button up weren't really a sight for sore eyes. He hung his bag over his shoulder and wore a sun hat with sun glasses that said Ray Ban on the upper left eye lens.
"Good-morning! Here you are" he said handing me a couple envelopes. "Good-morning, thank you." I said back to him with a quick smile then grabbed the mail. "Have a spectacular day!" "You too". It was the shortest conversation known to man but I'm glad it ended early so I wouldn't have to deal with his enthusiasm any longer than I had to.
I shut the front door and placed the mail on the kitchen counter and saw my mom come from downstairs. "Yes Mr. Anderson, I know this is important but there's a storm a foot and I have to be here with my daughter" I heard her say as she walked to the kitchen to look through the mail. I couldn't hear what the other person was saying on the phone—I only could hear gibberish.
My mom sighed. "Okay, yes. Okay bye". My mom hung up the phone and looked at me with a tired look on her face. "What's wrong?" I asked her. "Well, Mr. Anderson—my boss, said if I don't fly out to Chicago tomorrow morning for some important stuff, he'll fire me". My face completely changed and I was astonished.
"What the hell, he can't do that!" "I know honey but it's business so I'm gonna need you to pack your bag for the Heffley's because your going to be spending the night there while I'm gone." "Do you have to go? It'll be dangerous with the storm and all" I tried arguing a bit.
"I'll be fine the storm won't be here until tomorrow night so I'll already have landed by then" "we'll okay if you say so" I said feeling defeated."I'm gonna call Susan so she knows your staying over now go upstairs and pack."
I nodded and went upstairs.I went to my room and grabbed some clothes out my drawers. I grabbed a dark gray band T-shirt which said RADIOHEAD on it in a washed out red color just below the lettering was a picture of the band in an off white—almost yellow and black coloring. I also grabbed some black velvet shorts shorts that had a drawstring. I packed those as my pajamas in a old black Jan sport backpack. I packed some black over ankle socks and a fresh pair of black underwear and matching bra for when i got out the shower.
Sleepover at Rodricks—I guess I did say I wanted to spend time with him again.
I bit the inside of my cheek as I packed the 2 portable chargers my mom had gotten me as well as my headphones. I know I might not need them but I want to be prepared.
I got a text from Rodrick sense he asked for my number. Don't talk about the contact name...
Rodrick <3
Your spending the night?
Rodrick <3yea is that okay with you?
Y/nOf course, I just wanted to make sure.
Where you gonna sleep at?
Rodrick <3The couch most likely.
Y/nYou can sleep in my room, I mean if you want.
Rodrick <3Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother
Y/nYea I'm positive and Your never bother
I promise.
Rodrick <3Lol okay, I have to pack some more and then help my mom pack for her business trip so I'll talk to you tonight.
Y/nWait, we should just wait until tomorrow morning so it's like a suspense thing.
Rodrick <3Wow, your really cheesy
Y/nYea but, your into that so I know you like it
Rodrick <3Mann. Okay I'll see you tomorrow. Byeee <3
Y/nByee <3
Rodrick <3.......
The text he sent before saying goodbye made my heart flatter a bit. It felt like he was flirting but I know that wasn't the case so I just brushed it off and continued to pack.
Rodricks pov:
My mom just told me that y/n was sleeping over so i texted her to make sure. I'm always texting her so I told her not to next until we see each other so I would have time to clean my room and clean myself along with it for her.
She called me cheesy and i don't know what came over me but I ended up flirting with her a bit. Luckily I didn't make it too obvious. After saying bye I got to cleaning my room and I mean like deep cleaning it.
I took everything off my dressers, tables or anything I stacked something on—took everything off and wiped it down with some cleaning spray. I threw away all the trash, which took a while unfortunately. I ended up finding some old half eaten apples that some ants were munching on.
I took all my stuffed clothes in my dressers and folded them as nicely as possible, i then made my bed and swept—making sure to get underneath my bed which was even worse than the outside. I found some old underwear and dirty gym socks from the last school year along with a can of chili beans that had some mold growing. I hate to admit but it was gross as fuck in my room.
I went downstairs and asked my mom where the mop was and she gave me a weird look.
"Did you just say the mop?" "Uh yea?" I said looking at her. "As in the thing that cleans the floors?" "Mhm" I responded. "It's in the garage with the bucket—are you cleaning your room for y/n?" "Umm, im actually very busy right now so I can't talk, bye" I said running up the stairs with the mop to avoid her question.I mopped my room and embarrassingly slipped once or twice. It took me all day to do so I was sooo fucking tired but it's okay, it's for y/n.
It was 8:30 when I finished so I decided to just go to sleep so I could wake up early enough to shower before y/n came over.
