A house?

Kiyaka POV:

I woke up to a couple harsh shoves on my shoulder. I groaned and opened my eyes. I saw from Akaza's knees to the ground. I watched as he pulled his foot back from my shoulder. So he used his foot to shove me, huh? That's one way to treat a lady. I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes. I spoke quietly in a sleepy voice.

"You need something.?"

He chuckled as he squatted down, his elbows on his knees and his arms dangling down in front of him. He had a wide smile. It was nice. It made up for him waking me up so harshly.

"Yep, I do actually, but I'll get to that in a second. You better be happy. I let you sleep in."

"You had intentions on waking me up sooner?"

"Maybe, now, let's get up!"

He held his hand out for me to take. I gave him a look. A confused one, because I was. He must've got some good rest or went through some sort of crisis that put him in this mood. I propped myself up and stood without taking his hand, brushing my kimono off after. I heard him scoff as he turned away.

"What did you get me up for? What are we doing?"

"Well, we will probably get some food for you, then go find a bigger better cave!"

I raised my eyebrow.

"That's the plan for today?"

He put his hand on his hips and smiled confidently.

"Yup!"

I shrugged.

"Alright. Let's go then."

(Time skip!)

We had already killed four humans. I had two and he had two. I didn't kill any of them, Akaza killed all of them. I offered help but he declined. He also picked out the ones that seemed the best tasting and gave me them. It's not my birthday nor any kind of appreciation day that I know of, so what is going on?

We were now walking through the woods, in search for a cave. We made our way up a pretty steep hill, of course we didn't struggle. The clouds in the sky grew darker and darker throughout the night. Since it was dark, it was always rather difficult to tell but I could. We were at the top of the hill that led into a forest. I'm sure he had some sort of plan but he was getting nowhere with the cave idea right now.

Suddenly, we heard thunder without seeing a lightning strike. As expected since there were trees surrounding us. When the thunder noise was first heard, I think I saw him jump a bit, but I wasn't sure. No one spoke about it til another was heard. He jumped, this time I could tell. I giggled. He turned and had an angry expression.

"What? What's so funny?"

"Did you really just let thunder scare you?"

"Tch, what? No."

Another rumble of thunder was heard and he jumped again, causing me to giggle even more. He grunted and blushed out of embarrassment.

"I'm not! It just caught me of guard!"

"Three times?"

I just kept laughing. It was so funny. Uppermoon three, the fourth strongest demon out of ALL demons and he's scared of some thunder! I couldn't help my laughter, it just progressed and progressed. But somehow, I think my laughter saved him from getting upset with me. He could tell I found it funny and just decided to let me have my fun. That's really sweet of him..

We kept walking. We didn't get far before we started to feel the raindrops. It was a light drizzle for a second but picked up as we progressed. He still jumped at every roar from the thunder. The overall storm picked up. It got to a point where it was kind of hard to maneuver in. The wind was blowing hard and the rain picked up. Lightning strikes were also getting closer, causing him to jump even harder and put him on edge. I still found it funny, but I felt bad after realizing he was actually scared of it. We couldn't quit til we found shelter though. He saw a small, very small hole dug into the side of a dirt elevation. It would fit both of us, but it would be crammed. He pointed.

"There. That will work for now."

I looked around to see if there was any better option. There was. The rain was so heavy, it was hard to see in the distance, but I could just barely spot a small cabin at the top of a small hill. I pointed and called out.

"What about that. It doesn't look like anyone lives there anymore."

"A house?"

"Better than a cave! C'mon!"

I took his hand and ran up the hill, dragging him behind me. He shook his hand away half way up the hill and ran beside me. We made it to the top and without thinking, I swung the door to the house open and held it open for him. He hurried in and I followed behind him as I quickly shut the door behind me. Thankfully, no one was there. I sighed in relief.

"Isn't this nice? It's small but it's better than a cave!"

"I like caves better. They make me feel like a demon, which I am."

I scoffed, annoyed at his remark. Is it so bad acting like a human? I don't remember what it's like but it could be better. Oddly enough, I had the urge to tidy the place up. I don't remember anything on any human objects other than some obvious ones, but it almost felt like a natural skill.

My instincts told me to check the cabinets in the small kitchen on the left side of the building where we first walked in. On the right was the living room. I ended up finding a bunch of cleaning supplies, as expected. I pulled them out and sat them on the counter, one by one. Akaza walked in further and was looking at the place left and right until he noticed my actions. He gave me a judgmental look. I put my hands on my hips and returned the look.

"What? Why are you looking at me that way?"

"We're only going to be here tonight. Why are you getting all of that out?"

"You don't know that! What if you like it and want to stay!"

"Pft, okay. Doubt it but you do you."

I rolled my eyes and continued getting the stuff out.

(Time skip!)

I ended up doing a lot more than I expected. I somehow knew what all of the cleaning stuff did and how to use it. Almost everything was clean. The kitchen counters and all of the cabinets were wiped down. I washed all the cases on the cushions on the couch and the pillowcases. I got a fire going in the fire pit and I did the bed in the bedroom. I also cleaned the bathroom. It was now near sunrise. Akaza had practically been on the couch all day. He went out for dinner, though, while I cleaned. I also lit the house with torches so there was some light. I closed the blinds so when the sun came up we wouldn't forget and burn. I found myself slumped on the couch, almost falling asleep now and then. Akaza was on it beside me reading some newspaper that he found in the house. I kept feeling my eyes flutter and then I'd catch myself and prop up. I eventually just passed out without realizing.

Odd place to leave off I knowwww. It's cool though, I think lol. I know he isn't actually scared of thunder by the way, I just thought it was cute and used it. But that's it. Cya next chapter hopefully! ❤️
