Man I'm unfit.
I don't know how Sarah managed to drag me along but somehow she convinced me to come hiking. With one kilometre to go, my legs are finally deciding to give up on me.

I'll never understand how or why people consider people find exercise fun. I mean fair enough it's meant to be good for you but finding enjoyment out of it? Nah, not for me thanks.

"How weird did Adam get about Dylan the other day, hey?" Sarah blurts out after gulping from her water bottle.

"Mmm I know, he can be such a tool."

She snorts a laugh. "You got that right."

"He seems a bit too keen on Rachael for my liking."

Sarah groans in agreeance. "Makes my skin crawl. It's bad enough the bitch is everywhere we look these days, now he's tryna chat her up."

"Shit's weird." I pant in between sentences, trying my best to catch my breath. "Maybe that's why he doesn't like Dylan..." "...you reckon he's jealous?"

Sarah smirks, turning to look at me with raised brows.

"Jealous? Maybe." "Jealous over Rachael? I doubt it."

My brows furrow in confusion, squinting my eyes as I look over at her.

She rolls her eyes at my cluelessness. "Well he's obviously still got the hots for you. I can't imagine he'd enjoy seeing you get hit on by someone who closely resembles a Greek God."

"What are you talking about woman?!" I ask through laughter, shaking my head at her bluntness.

Her eyes snap towards me, accusation written all over her face. "Oh puh-lease! Don't act like you haven't noticed." She points a finger at me like a stern parent telling off their disobediant toddler. "And don't act like you haven't thought about taking a ride on the ex-con train."

My cheeks burn crimson, feeling sheepish from her accusations. Opening my mouth to deny it I quickly decide against it, not quite believing my own defence.

"Hey I don't blame you!" "One look from that boy is enough to make any sane woman weak in the knees."

"Maybe you should hook up with him then!"
I snap, fed up with the topic of conversation.

She looks ahead, a smug expression on her face as though she got the exact reaction she wanted. I could cry tears of happiness as the sight of Sarah's red toyota yaris appears in the distance, our dreadful two hour long hike finally coming to an end.

Slightly pissed off that I'd given her the reaction she wanted, I decide to keep the ball rolling.

"Oh wait, I forgot. You're too busy getting hot and heavy with Liam every other night."

She smiles sheepishly, knowing she can't argue with facts.

"Touchè."

My legs are killing me from our hike earlier.
Work called on the way home and asked if I could come fill in a shift for a few hours.

I agreed on the condition that I could bank the extra shift, swapping it out for my morning shift next week. This way I'll get a three day weekend and not have to work my birthday which falls on the Monday. I reckon it's a pretty good deal honestly.

Mum and dad called to say they wouldn't be able to make it back 'til late next week so I'd planned on celebrating then anyway but it doesn't hurt having the Monday off to lounge around the house and use it as an excuse to eat my body weight in chocolate mud cake.
