I was meditating in my room when I heard a knock at my door. So after landing on the ground after hanging upside down. I went to open the door to be greeted by Sirius, a lookout for the castle.
"You've been summoned" he tells me and I sigh in annoyance. I wave him off and proceed to walk the long halls to the main hall. I see lots of vampires whispering with excitement about something, but I couldn't hear what it was about. Once I reached the main hall doors, I opened them and saw the counsel, all talking excitedly with one another. Everyone looks at me, when I enter and the room is silenced.
"Xavier, son of mine, please come forth. I have excellent news to share." I heard my mother's voice boom over the room. I turn into my bat form and fly over, turning back once I land. I was confused as to what this news had to be as it required all of the counsel to be present.
"What's the exciting news? Did we take over new land or something?" I asked. All of the counsel laughed and I heard a chorus of people say that it's better than that.
"Xavier, we received news from one of our lookouts, spotted a rogue successfully kill the miserable alpha of those werewolves and possibly that retched heir of his as well." She announced with a sinister smile on her face. The room erupted with cheers and shouts as they heard the news. Hundreds of thoughts flooded my mind as it registered with me, the information that I heard. The alpha was dead and possibly his heir? Does that mean? Zarya could be dead as well? That can't be, there's no way she could be dead.
"A-are you sure? They're both d-dead?" I managed to speak as I clenched my fists.
"We're confident that the alpha is dead but for the heir, we are not sure. She was still conscious when the informant left." mother shared as she took a sip of some blood. So there is a chance that Zarya's alive. I dismissed myself and quickly flew off towards the courtyard. When I arrived I checked to make sure that no one was there and I went over to certain part of the bushes and took out a blood vile. I poured some of it onto the ground and it started to glow. A door was outlined and opened up, allowing me to pass through. After shutting it, I was greeted by a loud voice.
"Xavier! You're finally here!" I heard one of my closest friend shout as she hugged me. I didn't hug back, instead I lightly pushed her back and kept on my mission to find what I was looking for.
"I'm guessing you heard the news, if you didn't want to accept Marcy's hugs." I heard a familiar voice say. I look back to see my best friend, Marcus emerge from the darkness. I made it over to a loose rock in the ground and lifted it up. There laid the same moon shaped necklace that she gave all those years ago. I picked it up and held it close to my chest.
"Yeah...I heard the news. Her father's dead and she's badly injured." I said coldly as I turned to look at them. They knew how I felt about Zarya and they sided with me. They equally don't want to participate in this war and were also sent to Cassius when they were young. That's where we had met, in the first place. I longed to meet Zarya again, but I could never find a way to escape that camp.
"It was a rogue that killed him" Marcus sighed as he leaned against the wall.
"She killed him.." Marcy whispered with her head down. I snapped my head over to look at her.
"She killed a vampire" I gasped as I looked down at the necklace. I never thought she would do it.
"I heard she snapped and went ballistic. That while covered in silver filled wounds, she used a branch and staked him." She shared as she made the motion of stabbing someone through the chest.
"If you ask me, even though it's disheartening that she killed a vampire. It was kind of deserved. I mean he killed her dad, I would probably do the same whether it was a vampire or a werewolf. You don't mess with someone's family." Marcus added as he crossed his arms. He's not wrong, I remember that she shared with me how much she loved her dad and always wanted to make him proud. Now she had to watch him die in front of her.
