It was quiet in this part of the forest, which is not an often occurrence. There was a little rustle in the trees, and there a small bat swoops down and lands on the ground. That small bat then morphed into a small pale boy, with smooth black hair, and red eyes. The boy looked around at his surroundings admiring the nature that was glimmering under the nicely lit moon. He was so engrossed in the nature that was around him, he didn't notice the pair of eyes that were watching his every move. It wasn't until he noticed a rustle in the bushes that he was aware that there was another presence.
"Who's there?" the boy exclaimed as he started to get jumpy. When he got no answer, he started to get worried. He looked down at the ground and saw a stick, so he picked it up and held it out.
"Whoever is out there, show yourself" he exclaimed as he waved the stick around. The pair of eyes that were watching him, took amusement to the boy's antics to their presence. Soon enough after the boy stopped waving the stick around, the pair of eyes that belonged to a small figure emerged from the bush behind the boy. The small figure was a girl that had blue hair and eyes, along with wolf ears and tail. She was about the same size as the boy, the ears giving her a bit more height.
"Hi" the wolf girl said, which caused the boy to jump away in fear. The boy turned around and looked to see the unknown being behind him to be the wolf girl.
"You're a werewolf," the boy exclaimed as he stepped back. The girl just looked at him with a confused look.
"Yeah, I am. You're a vampire," the girl responded back as he flashed the boy a smile.
"Yeah I am, aren't you scared?" the boy asked as he lost his sense of fear for the girl.
"Nope, you haven't done anything that would make me scared of you. Are you scared of me?" the girl replied back.
"Um, I guess not. You're not really doing anything scary," the boy answered as he dropped his stick. The two of them stood in silence just staring at each other. Both observing the other's features and movements. After a long silence the wolf girl decided to speak.
"My name is Zarya, and I'm the next alpha. Do you want to be my friend?" she spoke as she stepped forward and put her hand out for the boy to shake.
"Um, my name is Xavier. I'm the vampire prince." Xavier answered as he stood with confidence as he stated his role.
"Xavier is such a cool name! Can we be friends, Xavier?" Zarya complimented as she stuck her hand out at him again. Xavier smiled and took her hand in his, the two shook hands.
"Sure, as long as you promise not to hurt me" he stated as the two released hands.
"I promise! But you also have to promise me that you won't hurt me either." Zarya answered as her tail wagged with excitement.
"I promise" Xavier exclaimed as he smiled a toothy smile at her. The two of them started to talk about their families and what they do for fun, despite being the next leaders for their species. The two of them played small games with each other like twigs and stones, where they each had 3 twigs and 4 stones. One must skip their rock as far as possible and then mark it where it landed after the 3rd bounce. Whoever gets theirs the furthest gets to keep one of the others twigs. If the other wins the second round they get their twig back. It then goes on until both run out of rocks. Zarya won the first game and Xavier won the second. They were both having fun with their third game of twigs and stones, when Zarya noticed something in the distance. When Xavier noticed that his friend wasn't paying attention, he decided to ask what was wrong.
"There's something in the distance, watching us." she answered as she dropped her stones and twigs. Xavier looked in the direction that she was looking and he as well saw the unknown thing standing in the trees watching them. The two of them watched the unknown presence in the distance for a while. It wasn't until there was a howl in the far distance that the unknown presence attacked. The unknown presence turned out to be a vampire, it lunged out at Zarya. Zarya screamed as she was knocked down to the ground, with the vampire scratching and trying to bite her. Xavier watched from the side as his friend got attacked, he didn't know what to do. Whether or not he should attack his own kind for his friend.
"Hey, get off her! You're hurting her!" he exclaimed as he grabbed the night black cape that was on the vampire and pulled as hard as he could. But the vampire didn't listen, its main goal was to kill the werewolf girl. Xavier didn't stop trying to pull off the vampire, until he heard a howl come from his friend. It wasn't a broad and loud howl, just a small, weak one. That was when he heard rustling coming from the forest. Something was coming and it was coming fast. Xavier let go of the vampire and hid away, afraid of what's to come.
That's when a large wolf, larger than any wolf he had ever seen, leapt out of the bushes. It went for the vampire, knocking it off of Zarya and into a tree. The vampire hissed as it went to attack the large wolf. While the wolf and the vampire battled it out, Xavier snuck over to Zarya.
"Zarya, are you ok? I tried to help but I wasn't strong enough." Xavier asked the girl. Zarya sat up, small whimpers escaping her mouth as she looked over her wounds.
"Not really, but I should be fine. Thanks for trying to help me." she replied as she stood up with the help of Xavier. She dusted off herself, then gave him a toothy smile which he happily returned. The two of them looked back at the fighting vampire and wolf. The vampire was losing badly to the wolf. The wolf bit the vampire across the arm and lifted him in the air. The vampire claws at the wolf's face to free their arm but to no avail. The wolf then flung the skin-pale creature into the distance away from them. The wolf looked back at the two and started to growl. Zarya got in front of Xavier.
"Leave him alone! He didn't hurt me, just that one did." she exclaimed to the wolf as it got closer to them. Xavier was scared that the wolf was going to attack them, he knew how to fight, yes. But he didn't know how to fight a wolf that big and he knew he needed to protect his friend. But then a booming voice was heard.
"Don't you dare lay a paw on my son" the voice boomed from above. Then a rather large bat came down behind Xavier. The bat then transformed into a woman, who was clothed in an all black and red dress with a bit of lace in the front. It was the Vampire Queen! The queen walked up next to Xavier and put a hand on his shoulder, calming his nerves. But Zarya took one look at the queen and grew frightened. The queen looked down at her and with one quick motion, she was holding Zarya by the collar of her already torn cloth, causing her to whimper.
"Mama no!" Xavier exclaimed as he looked at his friend and mom.
"Get your claws off my daughter" Xavier heard from behind him. He turned around and saw that the large wolf was staring back at him, with a piercing stare that could cut right through him. That was then when Xavier realized that the wolf had red fur, which is different from normal werewolves. Which means that this wolf was the alpha wolf, and since Zarya had mentioned she was the next alpha that means this wolf was her father. The Queen simply smirked at the alpha wolf and shifted her grip from around Zarya's shirt to around her throat.
"Now why should I? You are my enemy and I hold your one and only heir to your position. All I have to do is squeeze hard enough and, "POP," dead." the queen sneered as she slowly started to tighten her grip around the girl's neck, causing her to start gasping for air. Zarya desperately tried to rip away the hands on her neck, but she was already weak from the previous attack. Her father watched with a soul-piercing stare as he tried to think on how to save his daughter.
"Mama, please don't kill her." Xavier cried as he pulled on the Queen's dress. The Queen looked down at her son, with an unreadable expression.
"Please, mama, she's my friend." the boy whimpered, feeling like his pleas were pointless.
"Why are you pleading for this mutt's life? You are a vampire prince, a vampire. We do not spare the lives of these fleas bags." the Queen reprimanded as she threw the girl to the ground. Zarya, coughing as she regained her ability to breathe. She morphed into her wolf form, the size of a small pup and with a limp, scurried over to her father. The wolf stood over his injured daughter and glared at the Queen, who was still reprimanding her son.
"Leave Ambrosia. You are not welcomed here. My pack should be here any second now." the wolf shouted at her. Ambrosia looked at him, unphased by his remarks.
"Shut it, mutt. This is merely a setback, in my plans. We shall meet again and hopefully for the last time." She stated, turning back into her bat form. Ambrosia, beckoning for her son to follow. The alpha picked up his daughter in his mouth and turned away. The two kids looked at each other sorrowfully, each of them whispering, a sad, "Bye", as they were taken away by their parents.
