PENELOPE'S HANGOVER THE next day was horrible

PENELOPE'S HANGOVER THE next day was horrible. She had never experience such a thing, as last night was her first night she had officially had gotten drunk.

Tasted alcohol? Yeah, some of her past foster parents were pretty persistent with what they drank, and how much they drank. She got curious, as eleven-year olds do. Cigarettes? Yeah, one time. Never again. She thought they were absolutely disgusting. The taste, smell, the look. Oh, how she hated the smell.

She groaned when she sat up, her head throbbing. The sound of her alarm was increasingly louder than normal. Honestly, it was surprising she hadn't gotten sick throughout the night. When she saw the trashcan beside her bed, she tried unbelievably hard to recall how she got home that night. She really couldn't remember a thing besides Steve finding her by the punch. (Or, for lack of better words, "PURE FUEL!")

Even though her head was killing her, she decided to go to school. She had a couple of tests that day. Not that she would have any problem with them, she studies hard the day after the material is given to them. Always one step ahead.

The lights in the school irritated her more than normal, the kids exceptionally louder. She dragged herself to her locker, her face giving away the feeling of her hangover by a long shot.

"Well, someone had a nice night." Steve teased, standing beside her and crossing his arms.

Penelope humorlessly laughed, her head throbbed at the action, causing her to groan and gently lay her head against the lockers. People were slightly giving her stares. Not just because of her uncommon appearance, but of her actions last night. Quiet, unsociable Penelope, black-out drunk at a Halloween party? Dancing quite suggestively and boldly with others? Yeah, people were bound to be astounded. And they were.

"So, I'm guessing you don't remember much...?" Steve asked, his words trailing off. He tried to subtly hint to their interaction last night, hopeful to get some answers about her tattoo he had just learned of. He wasn't stupid. A tattoo like that wasn't normal. Though, today, of course, it was covered by the long sleeves of the hoodie she wore. He couldn't pinpoint the way it made him feel- seeing her in that hoodie. Just the right color, oversized a bit, the way it made her look comfy. Mentally, he cursed himself out at the thoughts he was having, and focused on what she was saying in the moment.

"Please, tell me you took me home." She groaned against the lockers, embarrassed to say the least. This offered Steve a small chuckle at her appearance.

"Yeah, no worries. You, uh," He chuckled, leaning against the lockers. "I didn't take you for a lightweight." A sly smile made it's way onto his face. His tone was light hearted. She took note of his good mood, it oddly bringing her up as well.

Penelope deadpanned, turned her head slightly. There was a hint of a smile on her lips, like she was trying to hide the fact that people around Steve gets her in a good mood even if she feels like shit. "You expected me to not be a lightweight?" Steve stuck his hands in his pockets, searching for something.
