Cody's pov

"I think it's The Blackthorn Society's doing," Amelia sighed.

Amelia tries to stand up. "Are you ok?" I asked.

"Y-yes," but she collapses in front of me.

I carry her to the bed. I lay her down and put a blanket over her. Why did she fall? What did she take?

I take her hand to check her pulse. Her pulse is stable. I lean against the wall. I sit down in the chair beside her.

I was debating whether to leave her or not. Amelia snores softly. I think I will take that as yes to leaving the room.

I leave the room without making a noise. I close the door quietly. I sighed with relief. I walk to my room. Amelia needs her rest.

"Hey, Cod," Ben said.

"Again with that nickname," I said, throwing my hands in the air. "Stop calling me Cod," I rolled my eyes. Ben laughs.

I sit down on the bed. I decided not to look at the video further. I put the phone away. I lay down in the bed. Ben and I share a room. We are roommates.

I keep on thinking. How did Anthony Miller die? What was the secret weapon?

Those questions keep running in my head. All I know is that I need a good night's sleep. I lay down in my separate bed and put a blanket over me. My sleep takes over me.

The next day, my eyes opened. I turn to the other side. I reach for my phone. It's already morning.

I don't sleep a lot. Ben is still sleeping, probably dreaming about something. I change into a brown sweater and black pants. It's the only way to think about what to wear. I don't have good fashion taste.

I walk over to Ben's suitcase. Much to my surprise, guns are in his suitcase. Why does he have a gun? maybe to fight bad guys off.

I used one of his guns when I was stuck in London. I remember it like as if it was yesterday.

"Ben, wake up. We have to go to the FBI building," I said in a stern tone.

I can be stern sometimes. Other times, I wasn't.

Flashback
Seven years ago

"Cody, please make Henry and Owen stop fighting!" Mom yells. I sighed and went up to Henry, 8, and Owen, 6.

They are arguing about a new video game. I stood in the middle as if I watched them argue in anger.

"Mario Kart is better than Sonic game!" Owen yelled.

"No, it's not," Henry said.

"Yes, it is,"

"Calm down, both of you," I said as I meddled and pushed them away. They were on the verge of punching each other.

"What on earth is going on?" I asked, politely.

"Henry said that Sonic games are better than Mario Kart," Owen responds with a frown. Owen tumps his foot.

Henry gives Owen an 'I know it is true. We both know who is the right' type of look.

"Listen, guys, it doesn't matter if you have an opinion about some video game," I answer.

"Henry, you have to do your homework," I said.

Henry pouted and walked away. Before he walked away, he stuck his tongue out at Owen.

"Ok, little guy, go and play your game on iPad," I gesture at the iPad on the couch.

Owen nods his head. He sat on the couch and started to play iPad.

Sheeh, they fight so much. That's good I was there on time to stop the fight.

I was only 12 when I first became stern.

Flashback ends

"Cody!" I get snapped out of my thoughts.

"What?" I asked.

"Go out. So I could change, mate," Ben said with a towel in his hand.

I walked outside. No one is in the hallway. It was me all alone. I was all alone in the hallway.

I take my phone out of my pocket. There is no text from anyone. I hope Henry used his hacking skills to hack new information.

It would have been cool if I had brought Henry with me. I know he would have made a great teammate. We could use someone like him.

It's risky. If the government found out that my brother was a hacker, they might have arrested him. I don't want that.

"Good morning, Cody," Toby said.

My attention shifted from my phone to him.

"Morning, mate," I said.

"Why are you all alone?" he asked.

"Because Ben had to take a shower and get ready and I have to go and wait outside," I answer.

Toby nods his head.

Soon, Ben and Amelia come out of the separate room. A second later, Micheal also comes out. The trio are wearing simple clothing.

"Shall we go?" Amelia asked.

I just walk away from them, without even answering. We walk down to the lobby. We go to the car.

Ben starts to drive. I sit in the back seat. Micheal looks at the window with a stoic expression on his face. The whole car ride is awkward.

The car stops. The building is big. Toby and Amelia get out of the car at the same time. I haven't spoken to Amelia and Toby for a while.

I follow them out of the car. Ben and Micheal follow me inside.

We get to inside the building.

Whoa inside is so big. Way bigger than outside.

We were greeted by a man. The man was bearded. His appearance was big. But I could tell that his eyes are grey snake-like.

"You must be Sir Cody Grover?" the man asked.

I nod my head, too shy to talk to the man. I could tell that he was influential. He turns to my friends.

"You must be his friends?"

"Yes, sir," Toby answers.

"Well, I'm Joseph Graves," Joseph says. "Follow me. We have business to deal with,"
