Cody's pov
Chasetown, Washington
Parallel Pass Hotel

We have to find the secret weapon. Now what else? the person behind it. Screw this. It's strange how Joseph acknowledged my existence. Not my friends. It must've hurt them. Certainly, it hurt Amelia. Because she did not even say a word.

Heck, she was quiet when we got back to the hotel. I was only the center of attention. Even in Washington.

I never wanted to be the center of attention. But no matter how I tried not to get spotted, it always discovered me.

My brothers' existence has never been acknowledged by customers in the store. They just know me only. I know they are jealous of me. They did a bad job of hiding it. I'm not dumb or stupid.

But my thoughts get snapped out by a bump. I look up. The shady guy walked past me without even saying sorry.

He is all in black. Something was off about this guy. I follow him. This guy is shady and off.

He would turn his head to see if someone was following him. He looks paranoid. Paranoid as if someone might discover his secret.

As the guy enters the bookshelf, I quickly go inside. But still, I am trying not to get caught. All I see is the shady guy talking to someone and they walked away.

Out of my sight. I stroll quietly to explore the secret bunker. It looks like a bunker. But how is it possible that this bunker was here?

How long has it been there?

How come no one knew?

My questions ran like a lion in my head. I will get my answers later. I hear footsteps getting louder and louder.

My adrenaline hits me. I make my way to the closet and hide. I close the closet door behind me. I hold my breath as I anxiously watch the conversation happen between the same guy and another guy.

Another man looks like a foreigner as if he is from Yemen or other countries. His hair is black and olive skin can be revealed. He looks in his mid-30s or 40s. He has got to be six feet tall.

"Did anyone follow you?"

His mannerisms didn't jibe yet.

"No one followed me, Jackson,"

He let out a sigh of relief.

Well not everyone follows this Jackson guy I thought to myself. I find myself stuck in a tightening room with no space. I stand still.

"Well, so is the secret weapon in your hands?" The shady guy asked.

"Yes, it is safe, Clay," Jackson answered. "I have it in my briefcase," he points at the briefcase that he is holding.

"Put that stupid briefcase in the safe. We have to deliver it to The Blackthorn Society," Clay sighs in annoyance.

Clay gives him a devious look and walks away.

The secret weapon is here. In that safe.

Slowly, I emerge from the closet. God, it was suffocating in there. I slowly go to the safe. But it has a code.

What is the bloody code?

I desperately tried many codes. it triggered a huge noise.

"Kid, you must come with us,"

Before I could run out, I got knocked out with a single punch. It was a bad punch.

I wake up, only to find myself tied up in a dark room with a light up in the ceiling. I groan. My eyes blink a couple of times.

Clay and Jackson hover over me with their mask covering their faces.

"Who are you?" Clay asked, bringing his face closer to me and sneering with anger. Angry at the fact that he has been discovered.

I gulp. But at the same time, I have to play smart and act vague.

"Just a person who got...curious?" I answer with hesitation.

Jackson points his gun in my head. "Cooperate with us. If you don't, we will shoot you with no mercy,"

Jackson gives me an evil grin.

What did I get myself into?

My hands begin to sweat. My eyes dart around the room for weapons.

"I'm cooperating with you. Like I said, I have no information. If you let me go, I will act like nothing had happened," I reply.

"Should we kill him, Clay?" Jackson asks Clay.

Clay looks down at me before replying. "No, we shouldn't. We could use him for our plan,"

With that, I get knocked out hard.
