Towards the south, everyone could see the sun set beyond the horizon as the waters of the ocean reflected the scene on its surface. It was a memorable sight to behold as all the department members were dressed neatly for the night occasion at Ky's house.
"Mavis, wait! Your hair is sticking out here. Hmm... there we go!" Riana said with a smile as she fixed Mavis's hair. Mavis was wearing a pastel purple flowy dress that stopped at her knees while Riana wore a white two-piece skirt. Everyone else who was gathered in front of Ky's front door was dressed neatly in their casual yet clean styles that fit the beach theme for the night.
"What's up! Welcome to Ky's house everyone! Come in, come in!" Jax invited when he opened the doors.
Everyone's jaw fell to the ground when they saw the inside of Ky's home. To think that this was only one of his many houses that he used for vacations and getaways for some alone time.
"Mr Elias is, indeed, a successful person. Can't believe how much he has achieved at this age." Hale exclaimed in wonder as he looked around Ky's luxurious living room. "His future wife must be incredibly lucky..." Marcus added and Jax chuckled.
"I mean, he is a very resolute person and nothing will get in his way of achieving what he wants. The same thing applies to his interests. Even if he's not said it, he probably already has his eyes set on someone." Jax teased. "What..." Mavis turned towards Jax immediately as she thought she had heard it wrongly.
"Mr Elias likes someone? That's new-" Amelia said.
"According to what I'm observing, I would think so..." Jax replied with a grin.
Riana grabbed Mavis's arm and smiled widely at her. "Imagine being the girl that gets to date Mr Elias!" Riana whispered to her. Mavis swallowed a lump in her throat as she felt her heart sinking to her stomach. Does Ky already like someone?
"You know, Mavis, I believe that someone who is truly pretty is a person who is willing to be sincere and upfront with what they think and feel. They're loyal in what they do, passionate enough to know what they're doing and aren't afraid to try. That's what beauty is to me."
Ky's words back at the stationery shop clouded her mind. "How could I have been so dumb? At the shop, he was talking about the girl that he liked..."
"Woah, who's this lucky girl?" Hale questioned while Jax noticed that everyone began staring at him with wide and curious eyes.
"Why don't you ask him? He's right there..." Jax said quickly as he pointed to Ky leaning on the railing of the staircase with his hands in his pockets. Mavis looked up instantly at Ky along with her colleagues. The room was so silent that Mavis could hear her heartbeat accelerate at the sight of Ky, he was incredibly handsome. Black formal clothing that somehow seemed to be his signature style.
"Mr Elias," everyone greeted except for Mavis who was lost in her thoughts.
Ky looked directly at her. His expressionless face always looked a little angry and unbothered, so Mavis couldn't tell if he was in a bad mood or not. To be fair, they were all just discussing his private life and he must have overheard it. Ky began walking down the stairs and when he reached the bottom of the steps, he pointed to a couple of black paper bags sitting on his coffee table.
"One for each of you. Thank you for always putting your best foot forward and for being loyal to the company despite the hardships we faced. I hope that we'll be able to walk down this journey together in the future as well." Ky said.
"Let's drink to that! Quick, everyone, grab a glass." Jax invited as they started passing wine glasses around.
"To family!" Jax cheered.
