Ky was mindlessly walking on the street as all of Mavis's hurtful words during her sudden outburst kept replaying in his mind like a horror movie in his mind. However, what hurt him most was that all the good times they shared also came back to haunt him. Seeing her smile and laugh while he held her close in his arms was everything to him.
"Ky! Where are you?" Jax shouted like a maniac as pedestrians eyed him suspiciously. He ignored them as he couldn't care less about how others were thinking of him anymore. Jax only had one goal in mind right now; to find Ky.
"Please be okay." Jax prayed as he'd never seen Ky this broken in his entire life. In fact, he's never seen Ky "not okay" at all which made him fear what would happen to him now that he's unable to control his emotions. Ky was always the "strong one" when it came to their dynamic as best friends turned brothers. People only knew how to throw their problems at him and he'd be there when they needed him but now that's he hurting, no one was with him. At that thought, Jax ran faster down the streets calling for him.
The sky was getting dark and there weren't many people left on the street. Ky had wandered some distance down the street and had ended up leaning against a brick wall of a closed bookstore. His back slid down the wall as he sunk to the ground on his feet.
"I-I don't even know anymore. I'm not right for you! We're not meant to be..."
Jax finally saw Ky from across the street and was about to run to him when he froze in place to witness the most heart-breaking scene that he'd ever seen in his entire life span. Mavis's words echoed across Ky's mind as he finally caved into his feelings and began to cry his heart out in pain. Jax shuddered hearing the pain in his best friend's voice as tears flowed down his cheeks.
Watching Ky cry from across the road was the most painful thing Jax had ever felt in his life. He felt his heart sink to his stomach and a tear eventually escaped Jax's eyes. Instantly wiping it away, he tried to hold back his emotions. His bro needed him now more than ever.
Looking around for vehicles, Jax dashed across the road and bent down right next to his friend. "I'm sorry, we failed you. We really did..." Jax said as he tried to muster up a stable tone. Ky was about to speak but Jax stopped him.
"Don't. I'm going to need you to be selfish for once in your life. If not for you, for me. Yourself first, please, Ky, please." Jax pleaded as his eyes started to fill up with tears again.
"Thank you. For being here." Ky let a few words escape his mouth and Jax was touched.
"I told you. I always got your back, the same way you always had mine." Jax said as he held his hand out to Ky who took it instantly as they did a bro hug.
Jax helped Ky get up and they wandered aimlessly down the street together as they continued talking like best friends in high school again.
On the other end, Sarah and Ava were comforting Mavis as the other people in the building were too stunned to say anything. "What happened, M?" Ava asked her as she pretended to be concerned.
"Take your time, you don't have to force yourself..." Sarah who was sincerely concerned for Mavis told her as she gently patted her back.
"Poor Ky... he looked so broken." Ava tried to trigger Mavis and it worked.
"Ky...Ky!" Mavis realised and she dashed out of the room alone as the others just watched on except for Amelia who rushed after her but it seemed as though Mavis just disappeared into thin air as she couldn't spot her anywhere on the streets.
"Where did she go? How did she disappear so quickly?" Amelia wondered as she went to check near Forestabeans.
Little did she know, Mavis didn't even leave the area at all. She was grabbed into a dark alleyway beside the building by a man wearing all black and was struggling to fight him off. "Help! Let go of me! Who are you?" Mavis screamed as the man tightened his grip on her.
