The next day began bright and sunny; Ky was in his office as usual while Jax was downstairs conversing with the general affairs manager.

"Mr. Grayson, all interns are ready and present today, all located on the 5th floor."

"I see, very well then, the other matter at hand with the Chase Group?"

"The Chase Group has been going way out of line in their work ethics; they tried phishing the new employees this morning to get a hold of Mr Elias's new project data. Luckily our HR management caught them immediately and informed the rest of the interns to beware of these tactics."

(Authors note: Phishing is a social engineering attack that hackers use to unethically steal data and information from users. This is usually done by baiting users to click on malicious links or by downloading unauthorized malware.)

Jax sighed in frustration at how low some companies would stoop to get what they wanted, but he thanked the general affairs manager as he walked away to meet up with the company's network administrator.

As Jax pushed the button to call the elevator, he saw a girl running quickly through the front doors of the building. Mavis had arrived late and was panicking. Jax looked at her in confusion as they made awkward eye contact.

"Have I seen you before? You look so familiar-" Mavis asked Jax, unable to recognise him from the coffee incident at Forestabeans.

Jax, who had somewhere to be currently, just shook his head and told her that they probably didn't know each other as he left; up the elevator smiling cheekily. Mavis couldn't determine what had just happened but was pulled back to reality when she saw her supervisor and company's marketing manager, Ms. Amelia, standing at the doorway of her allocated department. Amelia looked up and saw Mavis instantly; Mavis had nowhere to hide.

"Ms. Asher... Late on the first day," Amelia said, shaking her head while staring sternly at Mavis.

"I'm sorry, Ms., umm," Mavis apologises but pauses when she realised that she didn't know who she was talking to.

"Amelia," the woman tells her.

"Ms Amelia. I got caught in bad traffic uptown, and I didn't mean to be late; I'll leave earlier next time, I promise. So please don't fire me." Mavis mumbled in fear of losing her job on the first day.

"Very well, go on in. Your table is the one right next to the water dispenser." Amelia beckoned as she pointed directions to Mavis.

"Thank you, thank you, Ms. Amelia," Mavis said gratefully in a slight bow to her supervisor as she quickly walked at a fast pace towards her table. She put her things down and glanced around her surroundings to see who she might be working with.

"Mavis..." Amelia calls out to her.

"Oh my god!" Mavis jumped in shock as she didn't see Amelia standing behind her.

"I didn't mean to startle you but all the interns had already taken a small tour of the workplace before you arrived so, we may have to skip that part," Amelia explained apologetically.

"I understand," Mavis replied, quite disappointed as she hoped to look around the company first.

Noticing the sadness in her eyes, Amelia explained that she could always explore on her own later during her lunch break and Mavis's face lit up instantly.

"Your first task would be working in Mr Hale's team. They are preparing for a new project launch and could use some help contacting some clients," Amelia said while pointing to a group of seven people sitting in a meeting room across from Mavis's table.
