Daryl's P.O.V
Two Weeks Later
We all stand around a map and argue about what our next move will be. The women stay by the cars and keep watch while we decide on what to do next."How about we push further west?" Noah suggests.
"We already tried that remember? Massive herd cut us off." Tyreese sighs.
"How about East?" Travis suggests.
"Same problem." Glenn groans.
"What about South?" Carl asks.
"Again, same problem. Everywhere we go, herds are closing in on us." Hayden sighs.
"It's like after when the farm got overrun all over again." Rick says bitterly.
"Except this time, no prison." I mutter.
"Well what are we going to do? We can't just keep drifting around. It's putting too much stress on the kids, let alone everyone else." Abraham states.
"We just gotta keep looking until we find somewhere. Hopefully, with a bit of luck it will be sooner rather than later. We just gotta push on until we find a way to get to Washington." Rick says.
"What about tonight? Where do we stay? It's getting colder now with winter coming." I say, turning to Rick.
He sighs, "There's no where around here for miles, we'll just have to hunker down in the cars again."
Everyone groans and Carl turns to his Dad, "We can't stay in them again. No one gets any sleep and there's not enough room for all of us."
"I understand that but there's nothing else we can do. I say we set up camp for the night and set out early tomorrow. We'll find something." Rick says and everyone nods.
He begins to pack away the map and we all turn and head back towards the cars. Cat is sitting in the backseat of the car, her back facing me. As I walk closer, I look over her shoulder and see Amelia laid out across the backseat, Cat putting a fresh diaper on her.
The smell hits my nose and I screw it up in disgust as Cat does up her onesie, "I'm so glad I didn't have to change that one."
Cat turns and looks over her shoulder at me, "Yeah, you always seem to weasel your way way out of them."
"Weasel huh?" I ask, pulling her against my chest playfully.
She laughs and turns her head, pressing her lips against mine. I give her a long, sweet kiss but am interrupted by the sound of our daughter. I pull away and look down at the little girl who has a smile on her face, her little hands pulling her feet towards her. I reach around Cat and pick her up and she lets out a happy noise.
I pull her against my chest, her head in my hand, "Hey there Darlin'. How're you going?"
Her bright eyes look up at me as her mouth remains smiling causing my heart to pound in my chest. I didn't know what I would feel when she was born, but now that she's here I can't imagine my life without her. Cat moves out of the car and places a kiss on her head and I smile at my girls.
"So what's the plan?" She asks, turning to me.
I look away from my baby to my wife, "He says we set up camp here and hit the road tomorrow."
She sighs and runs her hand over her face, "Again? Geez, this seat is getting a groove that I can't get out of."
"I know, but there's no where to stay within a couple of miles and it's almost night." I explain.
"I get it, I just wish we could find somewhere. I'm worried for her." She says, looking down at our girl.
I look down at Amelia who is staring past my head up at the sky and I feel Cat's worry too, "I know how you feel but don't worry. We'll find somewhere and we'll be alright."
