A young boy was approaching Professor Slughorn. "I was in the library the other day, in the Restricted Section, and I read something rather odd about a bit of rare magic. It's called, as I understand it... Horcruxes." The boy said.

Slughorn looked at him. "I beg your pardon?"

"Horcruxes. I came across the term while reading and I didn't fully understand it."

"I'm not sure what you were reading, Tom, but this is very dark stuff. Very dark indeed." The younger looking Slughorn said.

"Which is why I came to you." The boy known as Tom said. Slughorn stared at the boy for a moment "A Horcrux is an object in which a person has concealed part of their soul."

Tom listened to the man. "But I don't understand how that works, Sir." Slughorn sighs. "One splits ones soul and hides part of it in an object. By doing so, you are protected, should you be attacked and your body destroyed." "Protected?" Tom asks.

"That part of your soul that is hidden lives on. In other words, you cannot die."

Tom stares into the fire place. "And how does one split his soul, sir?" "I think you already know the answer to that, Tom." Slughorn gulps.

"Murder." Tom says looking back at the professor.

"Yes. Killing rips the soul apart. It's a violation against nature." Slughorn shakes his head.
Tom adjusts the ring in his finger before looking back at Slughorn. "Can you only split the soul once? For instance, isn't seven..."

"Seven? Merlin's beard, Tom! Isn't it bad enough to consider killing one person? To rip the soul into seven pieces... This is all hypothetical, isn't it, Tom? All academic?" Slughorn gasps.

Tom smiled a sinister at the professor. "Of course, sir. It'll be our little secret."

Alex shoots out of bed. She gasps for air. Alice sat up in bed. "Alex, are you okay?" Alex nodded. "Yeah just a bad dream."

"Merlin, you haven't gotten one of those in years." Alice yawned. Alex nodded and Alex laid back down. Alex gulped. Horcruxes. Something about that seemed very familiar to Alex. Alex looked at the clock on the wall and it was far to early for breakfast. Alex turned on her side and stared out the window at the moon.

Regulus was sat in bed staring at the ceiling. The letter his mother had sent him lay on his bedside table. He couldn't help the feeling of horror when he read the letter. Evan and Barty had gotten the same letter from their mothers. All three we're laying in their beds all staring at the ceiling.

"You think Dora got one?" Barty asked. "No, only Lestrange women who has ever got the dark mark was Bellatrix. And she's technically a Black." Regulus said. "You know when you get the mark you're going to need to stop talking to Alex." Barty commented. Regulus swallowed hard. He'd been enjoying his time with Alex. His Slytherin teammates hadn't batted an eye at the two hanging out because they were the ones to put him up to it. But Avery and Mulicuber had said he can stop the charade once they get back from Christmas break.

"Why does he have too?" Evan said leaning on his forearms. "To protect her you git." Barty said throwing a pillow at Evan. "She's nice though." Evan grumbled. "Imagine when Reg and her end up doing the devils tango and Alex sees the mark on his forearm. Do you really think she'd be okay with it?" Barty said bitterly. "Devils tango? Merlin just say sex or shag." Evan scoffed.

"Guys Alex and I won't be shagging." Regulus sighed. "But I agree with Barty. Before summer break starts I'm going to have to call it quits with her." Regulus sighed. "You haven't even kissed her, what is there to call quits on?" Evan laughed. Regulus and Barty both gave eachother a look before they started to throw all their pillows at Evan.

Regulus was walking along the dark and empty corridors. He was passing the library when he saw the door slightly open. He was about to close it when he heard the faint sounds of ABBA. Regulus brows knitted and he quietly made his way into the library. He followed the music until he got close to the restricted section and there at a table he saw Alexandra. Her glasses were on her face and mountains of books were all around her. Alex hadn't noticed the boy come in.

Regulus quietly made his way towards her and picked up a book. Secrets of the Darkest Art.

Regulus eyes went wide. "Alexandra why are you reading these books?" Regulus asked. Alexandras eyes snapped to the youngest Black brother. Alex gulped. "Alexandra these books..." Regulus trailed off looking at all the books. Alex closed the notebook she was making notes in. She couldn't indulge Regulus in her dreams. In her abilities.

The shock and horror and anger on Regulus face made Alex on edge. "What are you doing?" Regulus asked bitterly. Alex just looked at him, her mouth fell open but no words came out.

"Reg.." Alex trailed off biting the inside of her cheek. Regulus just stared at her in disbelief.

"Why are you reading these books Alexandra?"

"I cant tell you Reg." Alex said looking down.

"You shouldn't be concerning yourself with this type of Magic Alex, its dark." Regulus whispered loud enough for Alex to hear.

"But you can?" Alex snapped. As soon as the words left her mouth Alex slammed her palm yo her mouth. Regulus face contorted into confusion and nervousness. "What?" He asked.

Alex just blinked repeatedly. She fucked up. She wasn't supposed to let him know she knew about anything. She wasn't supposed to let anyone know. Especially when his fate was at risk. Alex jumped up from her chair before she flicked her wand and all the books she was reading flew around to where they were kept. Alex got up stuffing things in her bag and she ran.

Regulus was in disbelief. Alex knew something. He was sure of it. He ran after Alex but when Regulus ran out the Library Alex was no where in sight. A small light coloured cat came prancing around the corner, not even looking in Regulus' direction. Regulus didn't even bother looking at the cat before he sighed and put his face in his hands.
