After a few minutes, the barista called out the name "Cosmo". Rain had offered to grab our drinks, so I nodded in agreement as he walked over to the counter to pick them up. I watched as he exchanged a few words with the barista before returning to our table with our drinks in hand. He placed my drink in front of me, and I thanked him with a soft smile.
As we sipped our drinks, I couldn't help but notice the smile that never left Rain's face. It was contagious, and I found myself smiling too. After a few moments of comfortable silence, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to ask him a quick question.
A few moments of contented silence passed before I decided to ask a question that had been nagging me. "Rain, I have a question," I said softly, my voice barely above a whisper. "Sure, go ahead," he replied, his smile still in place. I took a deep breath and looked into his hazel eyes, searching for an answer. "Why did you say your name was Cosmo?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.
Rain took another sip of his drink, his eyes thoughtful as he considered his answer. "We have to use fake names or human names when we're out in public," he finally replied, his voice low and steady. As I processed the information he had given me, I nodded in understanding.
Our conversation continued, and I found myself losing track of time. It felt like we were the only two people in the café, lost in our own little world. The clock on the wall ticked away, and before we knew it, it was 3:30 p.m. We finished our drinks and decided to head home, Rain leading the way.
As we walked to the car, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the world around me. The leaves of the trees were a riot of orange-red hues, and they danced in the wind. I gazed out of the window as Rain started the engine, feeling content and grateful for the lovely afternoon spent in his company.

After a peaceful drive with Rain, we finally arrived back at the ministry after about 15 minutes. He pressed a button, and the garage door opened slowly, revealing a spacious room with enough space for two cars. The car rolled smoothly into the garage, and Rain put it in park before turning off the engine. I quickly grabbed the bag of rat food and exited the car, feeling the cool air rush to my face.
As we stepped out of the car, Rain locked the doors behind us. He then closed the garage door, and we made our way to the entrance of the ministry. Before we could enter the door, Rain stopped for a moment, rummaging through a cubby in the garage. After a few seconds, he found what he was looking for and pulled out two masks.
"I think we can take off our rings now," he said, his voice muffled by the mask. I nodded in agreement and took off my ring, feeling a sense of relief as I put it in my pocket. Rain did the same, and we both put on the masks, ready to enter the ministry.

I carefully held the bag of rat food in my hands as we walked down the hallway toward Papa's office. It had started to rain. The rain tapped against the windows, echoing throughout the quiet hallway. As we made our way closer to the door, Rain raised his hand and knocked three times.
Suddenly, a loud voice boomed from inside the office, "Come in!" Rain pushed the door open and I followed closely behind him, trying not to drop the rat food. Once we stepped inside, Rain closed the door behind us, creating a sense of privacy.
The room was dimly lit, with only a small lamp on Papa's desk casting a warm glow over the space. The air was filled with the scent of old books. Papa sat behind his desk, his eyes fixed on a large stack of papers in front of him. He brought his attention to Rain and me, and then he spoke up, "Ah- I see you found the food!" Papa stood up and walked over to us, a smile on his face, taking the bag from my hands.
After we were dismissed, Rain and I decided to make our way back to the Ghoul's Wing. As we walked down the maze-like hallways, we engaged in lively conversation.
Suddenly, we rounded a corner and bumped into another ghoul, causing us to come to a sudden stop. Rain quickly apologized to the ghoul, and as I looked up, I recognized him as Sodo, one of the more enigmatic ghouls of the ministry. His fiery-orange eyes were visible through his mask, and they seemed to bore into Rain's soul. The intensity of his gaze was palpable, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of discomfort.
As we watched Sodo walk away, I couldn't help but notice the slight frown on his face and the hurried pace of his steps, indicating his annoyance. It was clear that something had bothered him in our conversation, and I couldn't help but wonder what it was. Was it something we said? Or was it something else entirely? The ambiguity of the situation left me feeling uneasy, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
