I was standing in Jhanish's bedroom balcony when my phone rang, when I checked caller ID. Mamaji. I took a deep  breath and answered the call.

"Hello Mamaji, how are you?"

"Where are you?" my uncle's voice rumbles over the line. Shit. Bhai must have told him everything.

" Ah.. Mamaji__"

"You got engaged with him, and you didn't think it was important to talk to me Maya." He demands. "Who gave you permission to do that?"

How did he know about this?

"I.. I was going to talk when I get home. I know, I did wrong without telling you__"

"You definitely did wrong that you didn't take my permission. I never thought you'd go against my will Maya. There's no way I'm allowing a Mehrotra to have my daughter."

What. The. Hell?

"I love him. You can't say that about him mamaji. You can't__"

"I can do whatever I want Maya. You are my daughter. My responsibility."

"Mommy said she's happy about Jhanish.
Please give him one chance to understand..."

"Last I checked, I was your legal guardian, not your mommy. Since when did you start caring about your mother's opinion. You both always had this fight behind everyone's back."

My lips part, but no words come out.

"That's what I thought." He sigh heavily on the phone. "I don't have personal grudges against him Maya. But that family is trouble. I want you to stay away from him and his family. It's better for you. I made promise to your father that I'll always keep you safe. Don't make me locked you up in our house."

What?

"You know everything about my papa, don't you? Then tell me who's is he? Who's my brother?" I demand.

There was long pause before he says. "Mohit, Shobhit, Vansh they are your brothers."

"No. I'm talking about my real brother, or I could specifically say my half-brother. The one about whom no one knows in our family. I remember mamaji, I remember everything."

I heard he let out a angry huff over the phone. "Just come home Maya. We'll talk about everything."

"That clearly means you won't let me come back here. You'll forced me to leave him."

I take deep breath, and just like that I know that the man in question is in the room.

"You'll go against my will for that man? Is he that important in your life that you're ready to go against your family. Is this how we raised you? Did you think about your family for second? You don't care about us Maya. About our wishes, what we want for you. I'm so disappointed in you Maya."
