Kai sighed as he paced around his room. He didn't expect to have a bodyguard. Yes, he thought that Cole was a cool guy. But he didn't want Cole to accompany him everywhere. It made him feel...
Useless.
"I don't understand why I need a bodyguard. I can take perfect care of myself! I'm the damn Elemental master of fire for crying out loud!" Kai complained as he lit a simple flame in front of Cole to assert his dominance.
Cole looked back at Kai.
"put that fire out before you burn this whole place down," Cole said
"Ugh you sound just like my dad," Kai said as he rolled his eyes.
cole frowned at Kai's negative response.
"Hey. Your father is just trying to keep you safe. Besides what if you get ambushed? You can't take everyone out at once. Just because you're the elemental master of fire doesn't mean you know the world's best self-defense. There's more to life than just luxuries pretty boy." Cole scoffed
"I am not a pretty boy. I focus on more than my appearance. I hardly ever get to focus on myself! It's always royal duty after royal duty! Not every fortunate person is a "pretty boy". Look into the fine print " Kai said as he continued to pace.
Cole sighed as he walked up to Kai and held his hand. He needed to get closer to the prince and disagreeing with him wasn't going to earn his trust. He was going to need to pull a few tricks.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed that about you Prince Kai...You're right. Be mad at me. But I can't help but notice that you're pacing. Are you stressed of some sort?" Cole said softly.
Kai stopped pacing. He looked up at Cole and then looked down to see Cole holding his hand. He softly yanked his hand away from Cole's grasp. To which Cole gasped quietly. Kai looked at Cole. he suddenly felt bad for him. Yes, he had no idea who this man was. But how did he manage to get Kai to feel bad for him?
"Fine. I'm sorry too. I'm stressed. Stressed. Lots of things on my mind right now." Kai admitted.
"Oh. I see. Are you comfortable with telling me why you feel this way?" Cole said softly
Kai hesitated for a second. He had just met the guy. He can't be telling him personal things about himself. But then again, he needs to get all his stress out. He shook his head.
"It's not that I don't trust you...I want to get to know you first" Kai admitted.
I mean. That's one way to put it. Yes, he did want to spill every single detail about his life but you can't just trust someone like that. Cole did seem cool when he first saw him down at the village. Kai could picture having a good friendship with him. But before they could do all the super cool things that friends do. He wanted to at least get to know the guy.
"Alright....what do you want to know first?" Cole asked as he relaxed his stance and leaned against the wall with arms crossed.
Kai then thought for a while. He didn't think he would get this far. But while he was at it, he would have to ask a good question. A question that Cole would answer as they bond over said answer. But what could it be?
"What's your favorite food?" Kai asked
coles eyebrows widened. he didn't think that would be the first question that Kai would ask. But he just smiled.
"weird first question but. I'd have to say my favorite food is...cake." Cole said
"What? cake? I thought you would be into something like a salad or a good protein shake." Kai said as he smiled a goofy smile.
