A/N: I'm not a huge fan of how this turned out, and don't think I wrote most of the scenes to be as dramatic as intended, or even accurate to reality (as much as it can be with god characters). I'll probably rewrite it or at least heavily edit it when I go back to revise, but sometimes you just need to step away from something and look back at it later. (Also a friendly reminder that none of Interlunary Solus has been beta read, so please point out errors or give advice. I have put a lot of effort into this and I don't intend to stop at the first draft.)

Sundrop adored the mortal world.

They always had. After all, it was a piece of art of their own design, a product of their creation. Despite those roots, it had managed to become something all its own, left primarily to its own devices. Sure, Sun designed the lifeforms, but they changed and altered the world in ways that the God of Life could have never expected. Humans in particular were such a unique topic, not only transforming themselves, but the world as a whole, in ways that were both good and bad.

He looked at his human disguise in the mirror, giving his flowy layered skirt a little twirl. Clothes were a uniquely human creation. There were shells, yes, but those were for protection. Humans made clothes into a decorative, fashion point... and it was wonderful!

A scream got their attention. Only the mortal was in the house at the moment... Sun bolted over to the sound, shoving their door open and finding the human slamming their own door shut, panic written all over their face.

"What happened-!? What is it?" Sun could feel his body temperature rising as worry settled in, and tried to take deep breaths and relax himself. Since his domain included the literal sun, he had to keep calm, or he was a fire hazard... but he wasn't exactly the most calm or level headed deity.

"There is someone in my room, there is a self-defense stabby in the drawer next to the couch, go grab it in case something goes wrong," Y/N said, clutching their own self-defense keychain. It didn't seem very sharp, but it was a slight relief to see that they were prepared. Even if the thought of someone breaking in was... terrifying. The person couldn't harm Sun, not really, but Y/N?

Without thinking, Sun grabbed Y/N's arm and began to run, pulling them along. In their panic, they failed to realize why that was a bad idea until it was too late.

Y/N tried desperately to pull their arm away, crying out in pain. The sound only caused Sun to panic more. He had no idea how hot he'd gotten, he didn't really feel it himself, but he knew he was a hazard... where the void was the Sirius that Moon left with him!? Sun stepped away and Y/N pulled their arm up to their chest, tears dripping from their eyes.

Sun could see the effects already. The immediate area they had touched was already beginning to char, the surroundings were swollen and red, and they just knew that it was going to blister badly. The scent of cooking flesh filled the air, mixed with a bit of that burnt smell. Sun could see the footprint scorch marks where they had touched the ground, feeling guilt in every ounce of their body.

"Oh... oh my Moondrop... I'm so sorry...!" Sun said, walking backward and away from Y/N, who was frozen in place, trembling slightly with a wordless stare. They were stunned from both pain and shock, it would seem... Y/N's bedroom door opened and an individual with a white star mask walked out, tilting its head in confusion. "... B! Get help!"

As the reaper vanished, Sun could only guess at the amount of things running through Y/N's head. They'd never forgive Sun for this, would they? He wouldn't blame Y/N if they didn't. Oh, the poor mortal was probably so confused and scared... they'd be okay, right? They had to be. Sun took deep breaths in a feeble attempt to get their temperature under control.

"I'm sorry, Y/N... are you okay?" Sun realistically knew the answer was no. The damage had already been done, and it was bad. They just didn't know what else to do. "Breathe... breathe for me..."

"What did you do?!" Y/N clutched the self-defense stabby they'd grabbed earlier in their still intact hand, taking careful steps away from Sun. The deity realized now that it was Sirius B Y/N had seen - which was only unusual in the sense that the Sirius Twins were usually very good at remaining completely hidden. Sirius B was there to monitor the house while A stuck with Moon. "Who is B!? What the [redacted] is going on?!"

"I can explain, I swear! I just - I'm a god, Y/N," Sun confessed, only to have Y/N stare at him like he was insane. They chuckled, shaking their head, but Sun only pressed the matter, desperate to explain himself. "I know it must sound ridiculous to you but I am and stuff like this happens sometimes..! I thought I had it under control but I don't and-"

He watched as Moon manifested in between him and Y/N, not even bothering with a human disguise. They stood in all of their godly glory, with their four arms and red eyes...and their 'It's okay if you disagree with me, I can't force you to be right' hoodie. Sirius A and B were quick to manifest at Moon's sides.

"WHAT THE [REDACTED]?!" Y/N fell back in shock. Moon knelt down to be around their standing height.

"A, B, please take Sun back to their realm, and get Arcturus. Y/N, please do not panic, we are here to help," Moon directed. The echoey quality of their voice was gentle, but not enough to override the chaos of the situation.

"LIKE HELL YOU'RE HERE TO HELP!" Y/N did not appear to be having any of it.

"Moon, please, I can help you. Let me stay," Sun pleaded, even though deep down he knew his efforts were fruitless.

"Sun, if you stay, it'll only get worse. You need to calm down. Besides, Polaris could use the company. Y/N, I didn't want to do this, but you leave me no choice." Moon reached over to Y/N, but they panicked and hit Moon's arm with the self-defense stabby. "... well that was rude."

Then their hand emitted a soft blue glow like magic, and as Sun relinquished, fading away into their realm, they managed to catch a glimpse of Y/N falling asleep.

They would be okay now, no thanks to Sun.
