"Sun," Polaris' voice caught the attention of their father figure, who was in the middle of running strings from pins on a board like a mad conspiracy theorist. He was, in fact, drafting crazy new creatures to drop into the deep ocean, since the Bob had unfortunately died out... it was a shame, really. Humans didn't get to see the colour patterns that spelled out the name 'Bob', trademarks of the species. They would've gotten a chuckle out of that one.
"Yeah Pol?" Sun spun around and looked at the small astral creature with a smile on their lips. They were doing much better, now that Y/N seemed to be okay and willing to test out the idea of reconciliation.
"Security passed me a letter for you. Looks like Solar wants to talk about something. Do you think that they're looking to do a karaoke night again?" Polaris' shimmering wings fluttered, picking her up as she hovered to Sun and handed him the letter. He gasped in excitement, quickly reading over the fancy lettering that comprised the 'address'. That was most definitely from Solar!
With great care, they used a letter opener to precisely cut the envelope before removing the letter. They unfolded it and admired the beautiful ink writing for a moment, before actually reading the letter.
'Dear Sundrop, Lord of Life,
I fear your precious mortal has landed in the void... I would remove them, but I think it's best if we first convene. Security has been instructed to allow you passage into my realm without question, as this is a rather urgent matter. Come quick, darling, they're running out of time.
Regards,
Solar Eclipse, Sovereign of the Afterlife.'
Sun's face fell. A mortal, one who was very much supposed to be alive, in the void? That doesn't just happen. It was obvious who exactly Solar was referring to, and Y/N didn't seem the type to mess with anything that would get them in the void. It wasn't exactly easy to access, much less to leave, unless Solar specifically brought you there (and other gods couldn't access it at all, save Lulu). There were a thousand things on Sun's mind, but one of them stood out bright and clear.
Why would Solar want anything to do with Y/N?
He could imagine it making sense if they wanted to keep tabs on Y/N, after all, Y/N had been involved with the affairs of deities... but kidnapping? Why? Why send this, this ransom note to Sun? Solar could get anything they wanted from Sun peacefully. They were friends, after all - practically family! He'd have to see what this was about, personally. He was sure there had to be a good reason that Solar would take such drastic measures to get his attention.
"I must speak with Solar in person. It appears he's having serious issues with something on his end and needs me urgently. Will you be okay back here for a minute, star?" Sun forced a smile when Polaris nodded.
"I'll be here."
With that, Sun hurried to leave their realm, their vessel manifesting into Security's realm. A nice old diner, from what Sun understood, but they didn't have the time to dwell on the beauty and history of the place now. Security peered out from inside their box, giving a mechanical wave.
"Going to see Solar?" Sun nodded in affirmation. "The passage is open."
"Thank you, Sec," Sun said quickly as they rushed out the door. He found himself in the alternate reception for the Afterlife; the reception for those who went through Security rather than those who came via the reapers. Solar herself, rather than one of her demons, sat at the reception desk. Her arms were folded as she sat up straight, looking at Sun.
"Hello, sunshine. Looks like you got my letter. Good, your human is starting to go mad in the void... poor thing. Mortals don't have the capacity to understand absolute nothingness, you know. Simply cannot understand it, it slowly twists their minds, alters their brains, 'til it's nothing but a mush, incapable of anything but a feeling that something's terribly, terribly wrong." Solar's mandibles shifted as they spoke.
"What is this about? What's wrong? Are you okay? Are you having a... mid-eternity crisis?" Sun was mad that Solar had gone and done this, but surely there was a very good reason. Solar didn't always get along with others, but they didn't go out of their way to start conflict for the heck of it! "Just... Let Y/N go. You have my attention. They've done nothing to deserve being trapped in the void, and I'm right here."
"Oh, that's cute. You see, I need a little more than just you're word. You and Y/N, you'll swap places, if you care about them that much, sweetheart," Solar waved their hand, "You can't enter the void. But that doesn't mean the void can't be brought to you, and if you don't agree? I'll use force. You're tough, sunny boy, I'll give you that, but you're in my realm."
Sun didn't like the sound of that, but, mortals didn't fare well in the void. Especially the ones with more complex brains; dolphins, elephants, gorrillas, squids, octopi, and, yes, humans. "Okay, relax, Solar... I don't want to fight. Please, we can talk this out. There's no need for anyone to get hurt-"
"People have already gotten hurt, Sundrop! I'll take the human out and obliterate their soul if you don't answer. So. What. Will. It. Be."
