Daddy?????????????

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

It's been three days now, and I have developed a schedule . Wake up , get dressed ,pass by the hospital, and see Theo then straight to the office. I would try and get some work done , force down a salad or a sandwich , while being watched by my secretary. I was forced to eat both at home and in the office. 
I'd get out of the office at around 5 , go straight to the hospital and stay with him for about half an hour, then straight home again.

"Sir, you have a call from the hospital. " I didn't want for her to finish the statement. 
"Put them on."
She did, and I held my breath .What could it be now ?
" Mr. Stadock ?"
" Yeah ,it's me ."
" Okay, so some good news , Theo just woke up. We've moved him to a private room and I think he'd like to see you ."
" Which floor ? I'm on my way ."
" Tenth , you'll be shown the way ."

I was out of my chair in an instant , picking up my car keys and wallet at the same time, trying to put on my blazer.
Everyone looked at me as I ran out of the office ,straight to the elevator. It was the slowest ride of my life .

I don't know how I beat the traffic, but I was there within minutes . I parked as quickly as humanly possible and dashed into the hospital, straight for the elevator.

The moment the elevator stopped, I was out of it , already looking up and down the hall in search of a familiar face.
"Mr. Stadock, right this way ." I followed the nurse who led me to the room at the furthest end of the hall. She held the door open for me and closed it once I was inside .
Theo lifted his head from the tablet he had in hand. I had ordered a bunch of stuff I knew he'd like previously.
" Baby .." it came out like a breath of fresh air . In seconds, I was by his side . Cradling his face slowly, carefully.
" How do you feel? I missed you.  Forgive me for not getting you sooner, baby ."

He started crying ,holding onto me for dear life . I tried holding as much of him as humanly possible without interfering with the tubes and hurting him.
He cried for some time. I was worried the little bit of water in his body would finish .
" Stop crying, baby boy, I do t like seeing your tears . Daddy will make sure nothing bad ever happens to you again. I promise you ."

He ended up calming down, and he laid limp in my hands . When I checked, he was out like a light. Well, at least he was awake now.

The doctor walked in at that moment, and I couldn't place Theo on the bed , he would let out little noises whenever I moved him.
" Can we talk later , I just want to hold him for a bit before we get into more details. "
He nodded and left . I dimmed the lights and held him tighter ,I was never letting him go again.

I think I also fell asleep because I woke up to little hands squishing my cheeks.
" Theo, what are you doing, love ?"
He only looked at me and continued playing around with my face . I looked at my watch, and we'd been out for about three hours. That was a lot of time.
" Are you hungry, baby ?" He shook his head .
" Well, you need to eat ." I pressed the button to call in a nurse .

" Mr. Stadock, good to see the both of you finally awake ." She walked in with a tray and a clipboard.
" Yeah ,sorry about that . I was wondering what he's allowed to eat for now?"

" Just light foods , we can get him some mashed potatoes with either vegetable stew or beef stew. Which do you prefer, sir?"
" The vegetable one . And can he take something a bit sweet? Organic yoghurt, maybe ?"
" Yes, he can . We would like him to stay away from processed things, though ,like candy and snacks ."

We agreed on that, and she said she was going to get someone to prepare the food quickly ,but before that, she had to check his vitals .

Theo didn't want her close to him. He would start fidgeting and crying whenever she was close enough .
" Baby boy ,why don't you let this nice lady check your ouchies, okay ?"

He hid his face in my neck, and she got about checking him.
After she left, I called Xander and had him get me some little stuff for Thro. I hadn't thought that he'd go to his little space after the traumatic incident .

He continued playing around with my hair till there was a nock on the door .
" Come in."  I automatically assumed it was a nurse.  No one had access to this area apart from me and his doctors .

" Mr Stadock, sorry to bother you, but these gentlemen weren't taking no for an answer, and I'm not in a position to keep them away ."
" Let them in."
Two police officers walked in .
" How may I help you officers?" Theo had stopped playing and was staring at them.
" We were informed that Mr. Waters was awake . We've come to take his statement so that the investigation can start. A detective has already been assigned the case, and he will be here later on . "

" As much as if like you to start on thus case officers , Theo can't be helpful to you at the moment. If you leave your card or contact information, I'll call you the moment he starts talking or is in the correct headspace  "

" Thank you, sir. Sorry to barge in here ,and please make sure you call us as soon as he's responsive ."

They left their cards and left . The food was brought in, and I tried feeding him,he didn't eat as much before, completely refusing any more. I gave him some water and he got engrossed in watching greeny .

Xander finally came with the things I had asked for . He said that Charly had a tantrum because he wanted to see Theo, and we agreed he could bring him in.
I washed the new pacifier in hot water and let it cool before rubbing it around Theo's lips . He immediately took it in and started suckling.  In a matter of minutes, he was yawning and rubbing his eyes .

I gave him a cloth bath and put him in a diaper and comfortable clothes, they were baby friendly.  He was out like a light again. The nurse came and gave him his drugs and replaced his IV.

I couldn't believe my baby was okay . Not 100%, but he was getting there .
