Kyle's face was red. Hot bright red. Surprised, angry, and annoyed were top contenders for this. Surprised that what was the cause was a stupid fight, angry that Cartman had laid a finger on her, but annoyed at her for throwing the first punch.

She had only looked up at him for a moment before turning her gaze back at the floor. Her nerves got the best of her as she rambled on.

"Funny enough I only really wanted to drop off your notes and did not want to tell you this anytime soon, But Wendy and Stan wanted to- you know- so I figured I might as well rip the band aid off while I'm here," She laughed dryly, "I don't expect you to forgive me and I am absolutely not asking you to pick me or Eric because he's one your long term friends and I'm just some girl you met a few days ago."

Kyle took a deep breath.

"You promised you wouldn't be mad," (y/n) reminded him.

"I'm not mad at you, I'm frustrated with you," Kyle clarified but the girl just rolled her eyes.

"It's the same-"

"You think I see you as some random girl I just met?" Kyle cut her off, "Like I didn't take you to dinner to make sure we had no misunderstanding? Like just you being you had made my complete perception of you turn on its head? Like I don't lay awake at night thinking about any excuse to see you the next day?"

(y/n) hung her head in silence. This was the exact opposite of how she thought this conversation would go, and she was completely stunned.

"You think I would want to stay friends with the thorn that's been on my side for years over the kindest person I have ever met but only met recently?" With every question Kyle's voice raised. Because he could not believe that the reason she had been so apprehensive was for his friendship with Cartmen- which was barely there.

"(y/n) please look at me," The boy all but whispered.

Still, she would not meet his eyes, tears swelling on her own. She was disappointed in herself and her own assumptions about Kyle.

The boy noticing her unmoving figure gets up from his chair and kneels in front of her forcing her to meet his eyes. The girl quickly moves her hands to cover up the tears that have now begun to pour from her eyes. Kyle gently reaches up and grasps her wrists to move them away from her face. Her glassy eyes meet him finally.

"I am not upset with you," he begins, "I understand how you felt to get to that point and I understand why you did not want to tell me."

He stands, keeping a firm grip on the girl's wrist. Her gaze still followed his as he stood.

"If it was not a crime, I would kill Cartman and burn down half the world just to make sure you're okay. Do you understand that?" Kyle spoke, his voice not wavering for a moment.

"Why-Why would you do that for me?" (y/n) said through tears. Her emotions from shock or gratefulness she couldn't discern.

"Because no one treats me, looks at me, or speaks to me the way you do," His red face now glowed a pink, "And this is probably putting the cart before the horse, but since we're being honest tonight- I really, really like you (y/n)."

Both Kyle and (y/n)'s hearts skipped a beat in disbelief. (y/n) couldn't believe he had just said that and Kyle couldn't believe he had just said that outloud.

"That's a long winded way of asking me out," (y/n) laughed dryly, her tears beginning to stop.

"(y/n) would do me the honor of letting me take you on a date?" Kyle gave the girl a lopsided grin. (y/n) rolled her eyes.
