You and Kyle's relationship had survived the first two months of college much to everyone's surprise. Wendy and Stan however seemed to be in rockier waters.
"I can see the text was about Stanley, (y/n)! Give me your phone!" Wendy yelled at you as you sat at your desk. Unbeknownst to you she had been reading your texts over your shoulder.
"What the hell Wendy!" You shout back standing up from the desk and slipping your phone in your pocket.
Unfortunately she was right and it was a text from Kyle about Stan. The stress of university had been getting to Stan so unfortunately that meant his drinking had gone up. Both Kyle and Wendy were worried about him of course, especially since Stan was a drinker in highschool you had been told. Wendy asked Stan to just stay sober till the halloween party on October 31st, and Kyle said he would do it too. But Kyle had just texted you that this Tuesday before Halloween that Stan did not make it.
Wendy had a feeling it was coming. Stan was getting more agitated as the days went on and of course Wendy being anxious about him did not favors despite the good place it came from.
"Just tell me (y/n)!" Wendy said, tears threatening at the corners of her eyes.
"Well I was having a private conversation between me and my boyfriend, if you're so curious why don't you go over and ask him!" you said, quickly packing up what you were working on and shoving it in your backpack, "I'll go study somewhere else."
And with that you pushed past your best friend to go to the library on campus. You knew it was a little mean, but you and Kyle can't be the middle men of their relationship. They need to have a raw conversation with just the two of them.
Your walk from the dorm to the library was both a blessing and a curse. You definitely needed to get away, but it only left you with your own thoughts. That was until someone sitting on a bench outside the library calling your name caught your attention.
"(y/n)!" Jimmy called, waving you over to sit with him.
"Jimmy! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!" You say, swinging your backpack off and taking a seat next to him.
"The fe-feeling is m-mutual," He grins at you, "H-how have you been?"
"Stressed, but that's university right?" you smile at him.
"R-right you are," He chuckled, "You g-going to the u-u-university halloween party?"
"I am! Kyle and I are gonna dress up as Peter Pan and Wendy, are you going?"
"I h-haven't decided yet," you could tell his expression changed slightly, but what emotion it was escaped you.
"Do you have a costume for it at least yet?" You asked, trying to keep the conversation flowing.
"That I d-do have," He gave you a wide grin, "Frankenstein. N-not to be confused w-with his monster."
"An evil scientist, perfect!" You laughed along with him. However, memories of your earlier confrontation started floating to the front of your mind, "You should totally go if you have a costume, it'll be fun."
"If y-you say so."
Fraternity and Sorority parties always scared Kyle. So it was perfect that the gang wanted to go to one for halloween. He was scared of booze and how they were starting to affect his best friend again. He was scared Stan and Wendy's relationship, always rock solid, had been shaken. And of course with each other's best friends in a rough spot, Kyle was also scared of how he and (y/n)s relationship was going.
