- You stared at yourself in your vanity mirror as you tied your black bow around the collar of your shirt. You inhaled, held, exhaled. You were nervous to say the least but the more you thought about the stares that boy would get in class, the whispers, made you feel absolutely crushed for him.

'Poor guy... But what do I say? He made it pretty clear he didn't want to talk.. No, I'm sure he's just nervous!' You thought.

"(Y/N), sweetie, Kaori's here!" Your mother yelled. The two of you had planned on walking to the train together.

"Just a second!" You responded.

You quickly swiped some lip balm on your lips and put on a few sprays of your favourite spring perfume and headed down the stairs.

"Good morning, Kaori," you smiled as you slid on your mary janes.

"Good morning," she smiled in return.

"Have a good day, girls," your mother handed you your bag.

"Thank you, Mrs. (L/N)! Have a good one yourself," Kaori gave a small bow, your mother adored her, much like everyone else. Kaori was known to be a very sweet, respectful young girl.

"Bye mom, I love you," you gave her a quick hug before heading out with Kaori.

"I love your mom," she mentioned.

"Yeah, yeah, she loves you too," you laughed a bit. "I hate that they didn't put us in the same class, I have like no one," you groaned.

"Isn't Kaneko in your class?"

"Yeah but we aren't really friends.. Plus she's got her best friend right next to her and they don't seem like the type to accept new people into their little duo thing."

"Oh, yeah. Go chat up Asano! Make it the Big Six!"

"Do you hear yourself?" You laughed. "Like I'd willingly be friends with that Sakakibara perv.."

"Then I guess you're clean out of options, huh? A-Class seems pretty stuck up."

"Actually, I was gonna try giving Akabane a shot!"

"Oh really?" She responded, a puzzled look presented on her face.

"Well yeah. I feel really bad for just the stuff I've said about him. No one in class talked to him, Kaori. They all just stared. He's gotta have at least one friend at school, right?"

"That's very sweet of you, (Y/N)! I'm sure it'll go great!" Kaori always had an optimistic outlook.

Soon, the two of you were on the train with the other girls. You had kept your plan from them, they happened to be far judgier than Kaori - especially when it came to people like Karma.

"Have you guys settled on your clubs yet?" Kaori asked as you all exited the train.

"Swim. Swim. Swim club," Mizuki answered, wasn't a shock.

"Probably something easy like yearbook," Mutsoko responded.

"No way, me too!" Kaori chirped. "(Y/N)?"

"I haven't thought about it.. I'll look into it today, but probably yearbook too," you responded. "Hey, I'm gonna head to class now."

"Already? It's still fifteen minutes till the bell," Mizuki said.

"Yeah, my teacher's super strict about being on time - the earlier the safer, you know?"

"Yeah, my teacher too actually. I'll go with (Y/N)," Kaori smiled as she linked arms with you.

The two of you walked down the first year's hall together. Giggling and gossiping as most girls your age did. Your classrooms were right next to eachothers.

"I'll meet you at lunch, at the fountain again, right?" You asked.

"You bet! See you then," Kaori smiled as she walked into her class.

You walked into your class afterwards, of course Karma wasn't there quite yet.

"Good morning, Mr. Hashimoto," you gave the man a soft smile.

"Good morning, ms?"

"(L/N)."

"(L/N), first one to arrive. That's a good sign. Take your seat, I trust the rest of your peers will arrive soon," he held a hand out towards your desk.

You organized your school supplies as you waited, to your surprise, Karma was the second to arrive.

"Good morning, Akabane," you gave a soft smile, seeing this an opportunity to start your plan.

"Morning."

"You're here early! I've never seen you early for a class."

"Don't wanna risk being bumped down a class, I guess?"

"Oh, I see," you kept the smile on your face as he sat down. "So, have you decided on your club yet?"

He sighed. "No."

"Yeah, I haven't really either. I might do year book with my friends Mutsoko and Kaori, you know them?"

"No."

"Ah. I see you and Asano aren't at each other's necks anymore! That's nice, isn't it."

"Why are you talking to me? Did I not make myself clear?"

"I'm sorry.." You thought of a lie quick, you didn't want to make him out to be some sort of charity case. "I just figured that since we sit next to each other it'd make sense to talk a bit.. I don't really have friends in this class either so I was just thinking that in case partner projects or something come up we could just pair up since we do know each other."

"I have plenty of friends, more than enough for me, thanks," he dismissed you.

"In this class?"

"..I guess not exactly, no. But I'm more than okay with that."

"Come on, Akabane. It'll just make everything so much easier!" You were not giving up on this, and honestly you had no clue as to why.

"Fuck, fine." He huffed. "But firstly, I'm not starting any conversations, second, you will only talk to me when we are at these desks, and finally, do not think this makes us actual friends."

"Deal! Thanks," your smile turned brighter as you held out you hand.

He hesitantly shook it.
