April 1st, 2016
6:30 am.
- Just a couple days after the event at Kunugigaoka Junior High - E-Class had been among a monster all along? You were full of questions, praying at least one of the former E-Class "losers" would be in your new class. April 1st marked your first day at Kunugigaoka High School.
The uniform was different but felt just the same, a beige sweater vest, this one with some navy blue around the v-neck collar and braided details passing your ribs. Underneath was the same white button up t-shirt you wore last year but now was replaced with a daintier black bow around your neck. You now had a navy plaid patterned skirt that reached your mid-thigh and white socks that nearly met your knees. You ran a brush through your hair and made sure you looked presentable before leaving your room.
"Good morning, mom," you said as you sat at the table.
"Oh good, you're ready early."
"Well, early is on time and on time is late, right?" You smiled at the saying you've heard all your life.
"That's right," she smiled in return as she finished up the usual breakfast the two of you would eat every morning, miso soup, rice and natto.
"Thank you for the meal," your smile grew bigger as you gently clapped your hands together.
She returned your thanks with a small nod.
"You nervous for today?" She asked as she watched you begin eating.
"No, well, a bit maybe. Just about teachers and whatever but I'm sure it'll be fun!"
"I want you to be as careful as possible today, alright? I don't trust that junior high anymore, I'm hoping the high school will be different."
"Mom, I'll be fine. No one knew about that thing, until like two days ago! It'll all be good, I'm positive it was the only one of its kind on earth too. Had to have been," you tried to assure her.
"We'll see," she responded. The two of you finished your meals in a comfortable silence.
After finishing up, you helped clean your dishes before heading to the door where your black loafers and navy blue bag were ready for you to leave.
"I'm heading out now! I'll see you at four!" You called out as you opened the door.
"Remember-"
"Be careful," you both said in unison before you left.
As the walk began you felt your phone vibrate in your skirt pocket.
"Hello?" You answered.
"Hey!" Three girls practically screamed on the other end. "Where are you!?"
"I'm almost at the station, give me like five minutes," you laughed a bit.
"Better hurry, we expected you to be here first, (Y/N)!"
"Yeah, yeah, almost there! I can almost see it, hang tight."
Those girls were your closest friends, Mutsoko Ikari, Mizuki Ido, and Kaori Tanaka.
Mutsoko had light brown hair that was cut to her shoulders and parted down the middle, her skin was pale and eyes dark blue, she was about the same height as you.
Mizuki had long dark brown hair that met her mid-back and wispy bangs, her skin was originally quite pale but she had started getting tanned due to her sports. Her eyes were as dark as her hair and she stood at about five-foot-six.
Then there was Kaori. Kaori had strawberry blond hair that was just past her shoulders and curled into tight waves and somewhat blunt bangs, her eyes were light blue and her skin was white and glowy, she was five-foot-two.
"Well, well, well, look who finally decided to show up," Mizuki crossed her arms and jokingly shook her head as you approached the three.
"Oh shut up, I'm still early," you laughed.
"Okay, okay, real question. Do you think we'll be able to ask questions about the yellow thing?" Kaori asked.
"That's what I was thinking! Like what if someone from E-Class is in one of our classes now, do we ask?" You added.
"Please, do you guys actually think some E-Class loser got into the high school? It's one of Japan's top schools, and aren't they sent to E-Class for being like dumb?" Mutsoko laughed a bit.
"Well my old friend Isogai was sent there because he had a job.. But besides him I don't know anyone else who would have made the cut," Kaori responded.
"What about that red haired dude? He was like top of the charts, right? Just got transferred because of bad behaviour," Mizuki chimed in again.
"Akabane? Come on, he's probably got too long of a criminal record for them to give him a spot at Kunugigaoka," you couldn't help but laugh a bit.
"Yeah, you're probably right," she replied, the same giggle in her voice.
By then the train had arrived. You sat with Mizuki while Mutsoko and Kaori sat opposite of you both. The train ride was quiet, as per usual.
Once you all arrived at the school you went your separate ways. Mutsoko and Mizuki were in 1-C, Kaori in 1-B and you in 1-A.
'Look at all these brainiacs.. Asano, duh, Araki, makes sense.. All of the big five are here, well what else did I expect.' You thought to yourself as you scanned the classroom.
Since you were still early you were able to pick any seat in the room you wanted, you went for a back window seat. A few minutes later your old friend from your former club sat in front of you, her name was Kaneko. To be honest, you had no clue of what her first name was since the two of you weren't the closest. As more time went by, the room filled with more and more people you knew, you weren't exactly unpopular after all.
8:30 am class began.
The day began with a roll call.
"(L/N) (Y/N)," a grey haired man called out.
"Here."
"Aka.. Hm. Asano Gakushū."
"Present."
'Asano is an interesting name to mess up like that, prestigious school my ass.'
Roll ended.
"You will all address me as Mr. Hashimoto. I hope you all realize being part of A-Class is a privilege, a way to prove your academic success. With that, we at Kunugigaoka do not tolerate cheating, tardiness, or a below ninety-five percent average for our A-Class students. Some of you may find yourselves transferred to easier classes, some to easier scho-"
Before Hashimoto could finish, someone opened the door.
"Excuse me? First day and we're already coming in nearly five minutes late."
A boy with messy hair as red as an apple walked into the classroom, wearing the uniform that consisted of the same beige sweater vest which just fitted the boys a bit bigger, a black tie, navy dress pants with the same faint plaid pattern as your skirt, he had a long sleeved white dress shirt on but rolled up to his elbows and the same navy bag as everyone else.
"Well? Don't you just stand there. Give me a name."
"Akabane, Karma."
