- "Alright, what's going on? Your mom told me you've barely left your room in a week." Kaori invited herself into your room. "It's a mess in here, (Y/N)."
"Kaori, you know my rule. Feel free to come over unannounced just please knock," you sighed, speaking to her from your bed.
"I'm worried about you, we all are! We've been on break for a whole week and you've barely talked to me, or anyone else I've asked. What's wrong?" She sat on the foot of your bed.
"Nothing, I'm okay."
"Clearly not, did Akabane do something? You can talk to me."
"No, Karma didn't do anything wrong, it's all my fault," you felt yourself getting choked up again, sitting up.
"What do you mean?" She asked, puzzled.
"Kaori, please promise me you didn't say anything to him."
"Of course not, I haven't talked to that guy since Junior High," she swore. "I wouldn't ever talk to your boyfriend behind your back."
"And you didn't tell Mutsuko or Mizuki? Or any of our other girl friends?"
"No, I always keep my word with you, (Y/N)," she sighed. "What happened?"
"Someone told him at the fair about the shit I would say about him before, and that I'm using him so he's done with me," you looked down at your quilt. "He said we could talk about it another time but I've called him, texted him and he hasn't said a word since I last saw him."
"That jackass, did he even let you explain?"
"No, he's in the right on this one and you know it. I should have never kept that all secret from him, I should have never done it in the first place," you wiped your eyes. "But why did someone have to tell him? Why would someone ever do that?"
"Because some people just hate seeing others happy," she pulled you into a hug. "I promise you, it'll work out in the end. Even if it's not in the way you're hoping it'll turn out, everything will be just fine in the end."
The two of you ended up hanging out for a few hours before Kaori had to go home. After she left, your mother knocked on your door.
"Come in," you answered.
"Dinner's all ready," your mother smiled as she opened your door.
"Is it okay if I eat later? I'm not that hungry, sorry."
"What's going on, honey? Don't say 'nothing' again, I know something's wrong," she sat next to you.
"Don't worry about it mom, it's fine," you smiled.
She sighed, your mother never usually worried about you for there was nothing to worry about. You had always gotten good grades and had gotten along with your peers for the most part, she never considered putting boys in the picture.
"I could count on my hand the amount of times I've seen you outside of your room in the past six or so days, you haven't been looking for a job like you wanted to do. Kaori and the girls are even worried, you know I'm not usually pushy with you but this time I need you to tell me what's going on," she lectured.
"Mom, you wouldn't get it, just let it go," you muttered under your breath.
"(Y/N), now."
"Fine, fine," you sighed. "My boyfriend broke up with me."
"Your what?" The look of worry in her eyes slowly disappeared, turning into a look of anger, almost.
"My boyfriend. I didn't want to tell you, with how you get about that stuff."
"I get like that for a reason, (Y/N). Men don't care, you know this. I've told you this," she scoffed. "And now look, you had to find out I was right the hard way."
"No mom, it's all my fault. I wasn't honest with Karma and he had to find out from someone else."
"Karma? As in that Akabane delinquent?" She crossed her arms. "That boy has a criminal record, we would get E-Mails from your principal about him nearly regularly. Of course he broke your heart."
"He's not like that anymore, mom. I messed up, I hurt him first. I completely deserve what I got."
"I never thought I'd actually have to say this out loud, I always thought you had just assumed but you are not allowed to see any boys, especially not that Akabane boy."
"But mom-"
"I don't want to hear it. You went behind my back," she started. "That's how it's starts, then the next thing you know they leave you pregnant and alone."
"Mom, that's not fair. I get what my dad did wasn't okay but I'm not you and Karma is definitely not like whoever my dad is, he wouldn't do that."
"That's what I thought too when I was in your shoes," she got up from your bed. "Your dinner's on the counter, get it whenever."
You groaned quietly as she shut the door.
