On your walk home you couldn't shake the words he had spoken about the painting.
What a beautiful thought...to have someone dry your tears...renew you again...soften you again. Take away all your fears and insecurities.

Your ex had insisted he had always been faithful to you. Even though you had your suspicions you never had hard evidence of his infidelities so you allowed yourself to believe his belittling words of being a jealous and crazy idiot if you ever questioned him.

When a friend finally confessed to seeing him hooking up with girls at a party one night it was like an avalanche. Suddenly all of your so called friends confessed the things they new he had been doing behind your back. Why would your friends hide this from you? They didn't want to hurt you..you knew that, but you felt defeated, useless, stupid, ugly, inferior. Where your confidence in yourself had once been no longer existed. How could anyone truly love you. You drove the person who you had given your heart to into the arms of others...or so you told yourself. You felt there was something wrong with you. Were you not good enough? Not pretty enough? All of the above? You were shattered. Shattered into a million pieces.

But...wouldn't it be nice to feel like you again. No...better than you had felt before. To have those pieces put back together...

You hoped the stranger named Hyunjin was right in his depiction of how he saw the painting. Maybe that would be your reality one day...

He had just joined your class that day...that's why you hadn't seen him before. You knew he couldn't have been in your class before today...you would have noticed him, you would have remembered him....The way he looked at you...how vulnerable you felt under his gaze, like he saw everything you were feeling and thinking...everything you couldn't say..

You stopped in the park near your apartment and sat in the grass, photographing the way the light cascaded through the tall blades of it and the occasional butterfly.

The simplest of things hold the most beauty...you always thought.
You photographed two strangers hands interlocked with each other as they passed by....Two cardinals preening one another....a bee as it passed from one flower to the next.

You sat...time passing without your knowledge.
You felt your mind keep wandering back to his gaze. His eyes. You'd never felt understood by anyone your entire life but somehow in just a few moments...you felt he understood you with nothing more than looking at you. You didn't understand it...You didn't want to try to understand it...you only wanted to feel it while it lasted.

You noticed the sun had started to sink a little lower in the sky and decided it be best to grab a bowl of ramen from the convenience store before curling up on your couch to read for the night.

You loved the cozy routine you had made. It was comforting....it was consistent and stable...

The next morning you woke up as usual. Showering, picking out a warm outfit for the day, and taking yourself to your morning coffee shop.

"The coffee shop! Oh my God" you yelped to yourself.

You had completely forgotten you and Felix were having coffee this morning. It was probably a good thing you hadn't remembered so you didn't keep yourself up anxious about it all night.

As you walked in you didn't see Felix behind the bar...you were puzzled...that is until you heard your name being called from a booth near you.
Felix sat there beaming brightly at you two coffees in waiting.

"I got you your usual" he chuckled. "Hopefully you didn't want to try anything new today...but if you did I can get it for you."

"No, no this is fine, it's perfect" you retorted.

"How are you this morning?" He asked

"Cold" you said cupping your mug to warm your hands. "How are you?"

"Better now that you're here"

His sweet compliments always made you blush...the familiar heat creeping up your cheeks.

"So tell me about yourself, I don't really know much more than your name and how much you like your coffee" he laughed.

"There's not much to tell" you say timidly. "I just moved here a month ago and enjoy photography...and coffee" you laughed.

"Photography, that's pretty cool. Why Seoul?"

"Honestly, just to escape. I didn't really like my life where I was at and I had always wanted to visit Seoul...so here I am" you said splaying out your hands.

"Well I'm glad it brought you here, it's a pretty amazing place to live. Im sure you'll love it" he smiled sipping his coffee.

The two of you sat and talked for an hour. He truly was a kind soul and made you feel as ease. He cared for everyone and everything in his life so deeply...a trait you didn't come by often.

The nagging feeling of not wanting to burden him with your baggage kept you from sharing to much of your previous life with him. He seemed so untouched by pain or deception and you didn't want to blur his view of the world with what you had been through or how you felt deep down inside. It wasn't his burden to bear.

"I'm so sorry Felix! I have to go, I'm gonna be late for my class."

"Oh no..I'm sorry I lost track of time" he said apologetically.

"No it's ok, this was nice, I enjoyed talking with you" you smiled at him feeling a bit more comfortable with him.

"I'll see you tomorrow" you smiled over your shoulder running out of the cafe door.

You were certainly going to be late to class. You hated being late to anything. You ran into the arts building into the large classroom where everyone else was already bent over laptops going through this weeks photographs they had taken.

Once a week you were paired up in twos to go over all you had photographed throughout the previous week.

"Ahh Miss y/n....perfect." Your professor said.
"Hyunjin here was having to resort to me as a partner but since you're here you two pair up."

Hyunjin smiled at you...plush lips and soft eyes...just like you remembered him from the day before. He was truly breathtaking.

"Hi again" he smiled.
