Yes this story was meant to be in three parts only but there are a lot of important characters in this one who needed to voice their thoughts so I think each character deserves a chapter. So here comes the next one.
Mel's POV
I woke up earlier than usual today and got dressed up, yet I was uncertain ,even when I was sipping my coffee. The little chat with Ana yesterday had brought such a storm of conflicting thoughts.
Actually it was not Ana it was Dan, he is always resposible for conflicting thoughts among people around him. Thinking about him makes me feel angry but it also brings a smile on my face.
I decided I will deal with my emotions later, Dan was acting like a kid and I need to fix this.
Ana gave a knowing smile as she opened the door for me when I reached the Brown's residence.
I smiled back sheepishly.
"Good Morning Ana, How can I help you today?" I asked her, better get straight to the mission I thought.
Ana looked like she is about to explode in fits of laughter but she controlled herself, straightened up her face and told me, "Dan's diet chart is on the fridge, go have a look, I think he needs some breakfast."
"Right, I will be on it." I replied and headed straight towards the kitchen. I think I heard a muffled laughter behind me but I knew there is no point in turning around to ask.
I made some scrambled eggs and pancakes and picked up a glass of milk. Dan's diet chart says he needs proteins and calcium.
I went to the living room where Ana was cleaning up and placed the tray on the dining table.
"Ana, it's ready." I told her already feeling satisfied."Ok, go give it to Dan then." Ana rolled her eyes at me.
"I thought it would be better if you do that." I suggested, nervousness dripping from every word I said.
"Mel sweetheart, you are not here to be my cook, you are here to repair your relationship with Dan, you will have to face him someday you know." Ana pointed at the obvious.
I picked the tray and dashed to his room upstairs. I paused before entering the room took a deep breath and then barged in.
Holy Shit! He was standing in front of the mirror with just a towel hanging low on his waist.
"Oops!", yeah, that was all that came out of my mouth as I froze where I stood. He turned around and his eyes went wide as he saw me.
"Didn't they ever teach you to knock ? Wait a minute, what are you doing here?" He shouted.
"Okay, Hi! Sorry I..I didn't mean to....you know...catch you like this." I was stammering, just great.
I took a deep breath again when he raised an eyebrow at me.
"I won't ask you how you are because you still have a cast and you are still shouting at me so everything must be normal and though you didn't ask but I am good. Since I am good girl I brought you food." I said placing the tray on his side table.
"Where is Mum?" he asked more to himself than me and went out of the room shouting "Mom, Mom"
Ana didn't respond. Realising she isn't home he came back inside the room.
"Since when have you become such a momma's boy?" I joked.
"Since someone took her other son away." He made a snide remark and I felt like puking.
I swallowed the lump forming in my throat and told him, "Ana needs help. She is an old woman. Do you seriously expect her to take care of everything in your and Rob's absence? I am just helping her out."
