It had been a few weeks since Sun woke up.
He had learned to get used to stuff. No matter how hard he cleaned, nothing would look nice. No matter how hard to imagine or waited, children would not come running through the door, yelling and screaming happily, ready to have a good time. No matter how big he smiled, inside, he was always sad.
And no matter how hard he cried or berated himself, Moon would always love him.
They managed to create a routine. Sun would occasionally try to clean and find things they could use, even though it was limited.
Moon, on the other hand, continued to tinker with salvaged equipment and tried to repair what they could. It wasn't much, but it gave them a sense of purpose and hope. Every day was a struggle, but they clung to the belief that somehow, they could make it through this together.
Moon's glitches were still a concern, but they both did their best to deal with them, often talking through it when Moon felt himself slipping into a destructive state.
Moon would sometimes softly play the repaired music box, and Sun would listen, his non-existent heart filled with peace and happiness. In these moments, it almost felt like they were back in the days when children's laughter and happiness filled the pizzaplex.
Sun's attempts at cleaning and tidying up, although pointless, were a distraction. Moon's determination to repair and salvage what they could made a glimmer of hope.
Sometimes, though, Sun couldn't help but feel a bit like they had done something like this before. Like they were in a horrible situation like this before. But Sun didn't believe it. I mean, they were here, so whatever. It was all probably just a product of nerves, or sadness, or whatever. Not important, didn't matter.
However, one day, Sun was cleaning when a light came on. He also dropped his broken broom. He turned to the light source to see, "A turned-on computer?" Sun was confused; he thought the electricity didn't work anymore. The only reason he was able to have control was cause Moon would let him or be asleep. Even then, though, it was hard to stay in control.
Anyways, as he walked closer, he saw it was open to a file. He clicked on it, and it opened to, "An animatronic?" Sun looked more into it.
That's when he realized, "Wait, that's us!"
'Huh?' Moon asked.
"In the file! That's us! It says, 'Sun and Moon are a great combo, or at least they were. Ever since the teen accident, Moon has not been doing his job. A solution? Well, we thought that making a three-personality would be great. You see, all we need to do is push a button inside of their chest and then reset them, and bam! We got a perfect combination of Sun and Moon again. Now, how-"
"They were planning on combining us?" Moon asks.
"I guess...." Sun responses
They were silent for a moment before Moon spoke up, "Hey Sun, want to get married?"
If Sun was drinking something, he would have spit it out there, "What!?" Sun was shocked, "Moon, this isn't a great time."
"I know, but....you know how people used to get married by jumping over a broom cause they couldn't get actually married?" Moon asks
"Yeah?" Sun replies.
"I think it could be like that....combining could be like...."
Sun blushed, "You know, Moon, you're right. Let's do it."
Moon smiled, "Really? Great! We'll call it our 'Combination Ceremony' or something like that." Sun smiled as he went to get something.
