A/N - Kinkajou's Thoughts
Kinkajou felt him slipping away. She saw him look away every time she mentioned Moon. But he was her only real friend, and there was no one else whom she could talk about her.
Positivity, that's what she clung to. She held it in a death grip, trying not to let it leave her.
If it left her she didn't know what she'd do.
It was easier to ignore the little voice in the back of her head, easier to ignore the glances she got thrown in the hall.
The dark thoughts hadn't always been there, but after the island, after she found out no one looked for her but a dragon that didn't know any of them, they were always tugging at her mind.
Turtle had the same sort of sad feeling. Not many could see it, but she could see the repressed emotion bubbling to the surface. They were similar in lots of ways, that's one of the many reasons she liked him.She felt betrayed, so horribly betrayed when she learned that Moon had been secretly spying in on her mind for the last months. Now Kinkajou knew Moon knew how much she liked her. It was so embarrassing.
It felt good to have the sky fire.
After everything that went down after, her mind decided it better to block out any memory of her violent attack. She remembered nothing about the night, and she didn't want to remember.
She only remembered waking up to Turtle and Anemone. She had never found him so... Endearing. It could be a fluke but he had never mentioned anything to her. Then, off to another mission to fight the big evil Nightwing. She was unbelievably glad the volcano had erupted and destroyed the horrific island she had been held on. Nightwings weren't her favorite, she had to admit, but it was necessary for the sake of the world.
The surprise came to her when Darkstalker suddenly became no threat at all to any of them, and a new problem emerged.
She was in the hall, watching, observing the huge dragon sweep from end to end of the abandoned palace, trying to restore it. His efforts were valiant but he had little to nothing to show for it.
