Was he going to die? I mean, I know I hated him and all, but he wasn't that terrible. Maybe Cole was right. It might be a trap.
But I didn't really think anything through when I stormed through the first door on the second floor of some old warehouse. The one that Drew or whoever told me to go to.
Cole said he would stay outside just in case it was a trap, so he could take the enemy by surprise. So it was just me.
I took a deep breath and opened the door. There was Drew, sitting on a crude chair with his legs and hands bound.
"Lynn! I'm so glad you're here! I thought you wouldn't show, but I-"
"Shut up," I muttered, pulling out the pocket knife Cole insisted on me bringing. It sure came in handy.
I started to cut the rope that tied his hands together, when I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I spun around and saw that same skeleton guy looking at me, wielding a knife in each of his bony hands, red eyes glinting in the shadow.
"Hello there," I quoted in my best Obi Wan voice.
"You!" he started, but I sighed in annoyance. If he looked the part, he should at least finish a simple movie quote. Uncultured swine.
"If you want your annoying brother to-"
"Not brother," I interrupted, making Drew frown and the skeleton man raise a part of his face where an eyebrow should have been.
"What?" He asked.
"He's not my brother. Try again," I stated, folding my arms.
He groaned, but started talking again.
"If you want your friend-"
"He's not my friend either," I sighed. Drew scoffed from behind me.
The skeleton seemed to be losing his patience and he pointed one of his knives at me.
"LOOK! If you want this random dude who you seem to have a very complicated relationship with and seem to hate a lot..." he took a breath, "...to live, then you need to give me what I want. Got it?"
I looked from him to Drew.
"But I've already got him," I observed, and finished cutting off the rope on his hands. I handed him the knife so he could work on his legs.
"Hey! You aren't allowed to cut off the ropes! Not until I said so!" The guy said, stomping his foot on the ground like a five year old who wanted more time on their tablet. Like a stage 4 iPad kid.
"Too bad, buckaroo. We're going now," I said, giving him a smile.
"Hey! You can't do that! You do not mess with the almighty Samukai!"
Samukai? Wow. That's right up there with Taser Face. Striking fear into the hearts of anyone what hears it. Awesome.
I bit my tongue so I wouldn't say anything to anger him more. Or laugh.
What I didn't know was going to happen was this Samukai guy throwing a knife through the air, and towards me.
Okay, now I'm in danger.
Something inside me told me to duck a second before he even threw the knife. It whizzed above my head and hit the wall.
Samukai looked pretty pissed. He threw the rest of them at me, and only one grazed my arm.
"Wow," I exclaimed, "you hit me! Maybe if you changed your name to something not as stupid it would boost your confidence a little more and you'd be able to hit me again!"
