"This guy like totally pushed her against the wall and then like it looked like she exploded but she totally destroyed this skeleton dude and I was like 'okay, literally girl boss'!"
"All I saw was this big flash of light and a loud explosion noise. I rushed over there and there was this dismembered guy on the ground."
"I was standing right next to them when it happened! There was a dude with eight arms who was totally gonna kill a bunch of people, but then this girl came in and blew him up with some cool super powers!"
With every person me and Cole asked, my suspicions were proven correct when everybody said I blew up the skeleton guy.
I wasn't sure what to make of it, but Cole definitely seemed to be thinking of something.
After what seemed like hours (even though it wasn't even that long), we sat down on a bench and began to think.
Well, if that's what you'd call it. I was just overthinking everything. I wasn't sure what Cole was doing until he turned to me.
"So, here's the thing..." Cole told me, staring me dead in the eyes and casually making my heart melt, "I think you might be... and I'm not 100% sure about this... you might be an elemental master."
"...a what?" With full honesty, I really had no idea what he was talking about.
"You know, there's master of earth," he gestured to himself, "master of ice, master of fire, master of jig, and the list goes on."
I laughed a little, "Was that last one a joke or is it actually a thing?"
Cole chuckled a little and nodded. I assumed it was a joke.
"I take it you call... one of your friends that, yes?" I asked. I would love to relate to that, but I have no friends whatsoever.
"Yep. It annoys him, and that's why I do it," Cole responded.
And then he smiled. It was like a massive wave of feelings hit my heart and was drowning me, each breath I tried to take under this ocean of overwhelming intensity only filled me with more and more of that feeling. It was a feeling I could not understand. Something beyond my comprehension, but every ounce, every fiber in my body wanted to know that feeling and keep it locked inside my heart forever and ever. I found myself taking in every detail of his grin. The way his eyes squinted slightly and how there were little dimples in his cheeks made me want to-
"Evelyn? Are you okay?" Cole stopped smiling and looked at me weird.
"Wha..? Oh, yeah. Why do you ask?" I hoped he didn't notice me staring at him. But judging by my luck, he probably did, and it was probably super obvious.
I saw a sly grin creep up on the corners of his mouth, making me grip my pants with all my might.
"Well, you're blushing," he stated.
I felt my face get even warmer as he pointed that out. I couldn't even tell I was blushing.
"I... no, I'm not blushing... you're blushing!" I lied, covering my face in embarrassment.
He laughed and gently took my wrists and pulled my hands away from my cheeks.
"No need to be embarrassed. Let me see that pretty face of yours," he said, beaming down at me.
I felt like my soul had left my body and I was just floating, dissociated from the world. I sat there looking up at him with a face that had been flushed red.
He must have realized what he did and his face went pink as he dropped my hands.
"I uhh... I meant pretty as in, umm... like a friend way... because that's what we are..." he stuttered, and looked ahead of us into the street.
