When Rebecca left, I watched her go. She was so beautiful when she was excited. She was so ready for prom. I felt bad for lying to her about Aubrey, but I can't exactly tell her what's going on. I never asked Aubrey to prom. I wanted to ask Rebecca, that's obvious, but I couldn't. She probably already has a date. I don't talk about that stuff with her because it gets awkward for me. She's had boyfriends before, all of which broke her heart. She walked over to her house and stepped inside. I decided to go downstairs and get something to eat. When I got to the kitchen, my mom was making cookies. Why does she get up so early?
She turned to me. "Why did you tell me you were going to prom with Rebecca? She said you asked Aubrey Debre. Why did you never tell me about that either?"
Oh no. How do I explain this? I'll have to tell the truth.
I cleared my throat. "Okay. I never asked Aubrey to prom. I told Rebecca that because I was keeping a secret and she was mad that I wouldn't tell her. So I made up something that she would maybe believe, because I couldn't tell her that..."
She turned to me. "What?"
I took a deep breath. "I'm in love with her."
She nodded her head, giving me a knowing smile. "I suspected as much. Don't forget, a mother knows everything that goes on in her kid's life. I saw what you wrote on that paper to her a week ago."
She walked into upstairs to her bedroom. I stood there, thinking about what she said. She walked back in with a piece of paper in her hand. She handed it to me. It was the paper that I had thrown across my room. It was the one I had written "I love you" on.
She smiled at me. "I thought you might want to keep it. If she's that important to you, you can't let her go. You have to tell her the truth. Tell her how you feel."
I nodded and smiled. "Thanks. I think I'll try and tell her at the party."
She went back to the cookie dough. "I'll be watching."
I smiled and walked back up to my room, when I got a text from Aaron. He would be over in four hours, along with all the other guys, except for Hayes. Prom starts at five, so we would have around five hours to get ready. I know, that's a lot of time, but with nine guys in one house, you waste a lot of time. I looked over at my tux for tonight. I wish I was going with Rebecca. I need to tell her how I feel tonight. I'm nervous, though. What will she do? I sighed. There's only one way to find out.

This is it! I just got done curling my hair and spraying it with hairspray.Melanie turned to me. "You look gorgeous!" She was wearing a hot pink chiffon dress with a gradient to blue on the skirt. Her hair was up in a ballerina bun, and she had cobalt blue heels on. Emily was wearing a gold tulle dress. Her hair was straightened, and she had on black heels. Melanie and Emily both have dates. Melanie is going with Taylor Caniff, and Emily is going with Carter Reynolds. They're friends with Shawn, and when we hang out, Taylor and Carter come along, and so do Melanie and Emily. I think they both make cute couples, but Melanie is always telling me to date Shawn so we can all triple-date. I want to, but he doesn't ever say anything about it.
I leaned over my bed to the nightstand and grabbed a piece of paper. When Shawn and I were talking last night using our notebooks, I wrote "I love you" on the last piece of paper, but never held it up. I wanted to, but I just couldn't. I turned around to Emily and showed her the paper.
