*Rebecca*
I rolled over in bed, looking at the weak rays of sunshine streaming through my window. The party last night was, good, I guess. I didn't see Shawn the whole time, and that made me upset more than anything. I really wanted to apologize to him, but I can't. He doesn't want to be friends, so we won't be. But I really want to be anyway.
Last night with Jackson was horrible. All he talked about was himself, and when he stopped that, he talked all about how hot I was and how amazing we would look together. Then he tried to kiss me. I immediately backed away from him. He was such an arrogant jerk, I walked away to my friends and hung out with them for the rest of the party.
Groaning, I stood up and got dressed in a tank top and shorts. I got ready and walked downstairs.
My mom was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. I went over to the coffee maker and poured some in a cup, and walked over to the fridge.
She turned around and looked at me. "I know you and Shawn had a fight."
I avoided her gaze. "Why would you think that? We're just...fine."
She went back to reading the paper. "Okay, whatever you say honey."
I sat down across from her and bit into my apple. I started to think of everything that happened last night. I wanted to tell her, to get it out. But it was fine. I was fine. I don't need Shawn.
My lip started to tremble when I thought of what he said last night. I blurted out, "We did have a fight. He said since I can't trust him and he won't tell me what's bothering him, we aren't true friends. I want to apologize so bad, but he doesn't want to be friends anymore because I called him out on hiding things from me. I just...don't even know what to do anymore."
I had started to cry during my rant, and my mom leaned over to give me a tissue.
She looked sad. "I know. I heard you talking to Emily last night. But honey, if you want to save your friendship, you have to apologize soon."
I gave her a watery smile. "I think it's a little too late for that."
I got up and said to my mom, "I'll be fine. I just need to think."
I walked to my room, passing Bethany's on the way. She popped her head out of her room when I walked by. "Hey, what's wrong?"
I turned back to her. "Oh, Shawn and I had a fight. It's...nothing."
She looked at me like I was stupid. "The crazy old lady who works at the art store could see that it's obviously nothing. What did he say? Or you say?"
I came into her room and flopped on her bed, rumpling the hot pink and cobalt blue comforter. I pulled a pink beaded pillow over from her headboard and hugged it to my chest. She went and sat down in her desk chair, spinning around in a half circle.
She looked at me. "So?"
"So what?"
"What did he say?"
I sighed. "Well, I asked what was bothering him, and he said he couldn't tell me. I got mad and he said since he's hiding things from me and I want to know, we can't be friends."
She looked thoughtful for a minute, then nodded her head. "Okay. You need to apologize to him, soon. It's the best thing to do. If you don't want drama, that's the best way to avoid it."
I sighed again. "I know, it's just hard. I don't know what to say, or do, or how to approach him even."
She came over to me and pulled me up by my arms off her bed. "Come on, go talk to him. I'll push you out the door if I have to."
I got up and walked out of her room. "Fine, I'll go. But just so you, I won't like it."
I walked down the stairs and through the kitchen, thinking about Shawn the whole way. I was going to do this. He deserves to know how I feel about him. But if he doesn't want to talk, I'll save it for another time. But I have to tell him.
